We are always constrained by the 125 word limit here, This is the only site I know with such a ridiculous and stifling restriction. It doesn't even let you split a long post into several parts, as multiple posts are prohibited.

I tried to just post one relevant paragraph, but it wouldn't fit. I spend much more time on most messages, trying to trim and squeeze, to just get what I need to say to fit, than in composing them. This usually means I have to cut things out, and sometimes that even means cutting important things, including quotes. I point out the search parameters, so if you're interested, you can see the quotes in context.

I try to quote from previous posts, but frequently don't have the space.

Jerry6593:

Jesus was God in some ways, not others. HS did not send Son down to "my Father, ni whom I am well pleased". Father did not pray at Gethsemane, "Spirit, take this cup away from me".

Inasmuch as Jesus is God, why not just say "God said", which is more accurate? Inasmuch as Jesus is NOT God, it is WRONG to say "Jesus said".

It is more accurate to say "God/Word/Logos said" when referring to timeless divinity, and "Jesus said" when referring to his incarnation.

Red letter bibles have no red letters in the Old Testament. If Jesus said both, why did he contradict himself by not stoning the adulteress, as he changes not?

End Of World September 2017

Many signs precede the end. The Beast will appear and bring 3.5 year peace for. This implies war first. War so bad it would destroy all life unless shortened. Hasn't happened. NOBODY could buy or sell without his mark. Nowhere near happening either. Christian numerologists setting dates have been predicting the End in Septembers of year after year.

Yesterday I saw Robert Breaker video saying something will happen on Sept. 23. He also made one about Sept. 23 2015. Harold Camping twice 6 years ago. All these "boys who cry Wolf" do is constantly disappoint people and make them skeptical, so when the end DOES come, they will ignore the signs and be caught unaware.

Please tell me exactly WHICH statements I left out? Space limits me to only quoting relevant parts, the rest are readily searchable, and prove the same point. Besides, regardless of whether he made the words up on his own or was quoting Calvin is irrelevant - the fact that he believed them, for whatever reason, means he wasn't a Christian.

I quoted the part where he considered the virgin birth a myth several times. He followed Jesus for the same reason you follow Lincoln - because he though he was a good man, NOT because he thought he was God.

Matthew 15:23says nothing about the divinity of Jesus, so it matters not what Jefferson thought about it.

You wrote: I'm sure that you WANT the scripture (Rom 14) to say that, but it is not talking about alternative worship days of the week, as I explained below. Besides, don't you find it strange that Paul would contradict Jesus?

Has it ever occurred to you that Paul was NOT "contradicting Jesus"? When did Jesus ever say "Thou shalt worship on the Sabbath"?

I don't "want" a scripture that says that. I go by what Paul ACTUALLY wrote. You, however, keep re-interpreting what he says so that it doesn't mean what he said, but what YOU want it to say - i.e. the exact opposite. Paul's words are scripture. Your alternative explanations are not.

You wrote: As did King James with his 2nd KJV omitting 7 books of the OT.

No, HE didn't. HIS version had them.

Google: kjv apocrypha

"The apocrypha was a part of the KJV for 274 years until being removed in 1885 A.D.", by which time King James was LONG dead.

I quoted his direct words. I also paraphrased them in another message. I don't edit words to boast my argument. I frequently edit words to fit under the absurd 125 word limit.

Jefferson considered the virgin birth and ALL supernatural occurrences in the NT to be myths. How could he possibly believe Jesus was God then?

You wrote: As did King James with his 2nd KJV omitting 7 books of the OT.

No, he didn't. In case you didn't notice, the KJV of 1611 DID include the Apocrypha. They were only removed later.

I gave DIRECT QUOTES of Jefferson talking about his LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST.

And I gave a DIRECT QUOTE of Jefferson saying he hoped the "myth of the virgin birth" would finally be treated like ancient Greek myths. Jefferson did NOT believe in any of the supernatural happenings in the New Testament, so much so that he made his own bible with all of those passage cut out. He believed Jesus was a good man, but not God.

I'm glad you survived Irma. I know a lot of people who have had great difficulties from that.

Yo wrote: please give book, chapter, and verse where "He made ALL time sacred".

Yes, God made the Sabbath holy. However, Paul wrote that some people consider ALL days to be equally holy, and for each to be persuaded in his own mind - i.e. Paul, an apostle of Christ, says it's fine to worship on any day we choose. You seem to disagree, but I think Paul's opinions on the matter have more weight, as far as orthodox (little o) Christian theology goes, than Ellen White's do.

Google: jefferson adams letter minerva
The very first link is on Beliefnet, and includes the entire letter, and this paragraph near the end (I only have room for half of it):

... And the day will come when the mystical generation of Jesus, by the supreme being as his father in the womb of a virgin will be classed with the fable of the generation of Minerva in the brain of Jupiter. But we may hope that the dawn of reason and freedom of thought in these United States will do away with all this artificial scaffolding, and restore to us the primitive and genuine doctrines of this the most venerated reformer of human errors.

I was talking about non-Christian countries invoking God, not Muslim ones specifically. Nazi Germany said "Gott mit uns" (i.e. "God with us"), but nobody would call them Christians.

Thomas Jefferson hoping the virgin birth myth would be viewed like Greek myths shows his beliefs were hardly Christian. (Letter from Thomas Jefferson to John Adams.)

Why rely on a SCOTUS opinion on the founding fathers beliefs, rather than they themselves ACTUALLY WROTE? It's like relying on some preacher's interpretation of scripture rather than on scripture itself.

Article 11 of the Treaty of Tripoli was not in the Arabic, only English - and the Senate unanimously confirmed the ENGLISH version.

Is DACA Legal

Nicole_Lacey:

In theory yes. However, the Supreme Court has a much larger case load than they can possibly manage, so they only agree to see a very small percentage of appeals directed to them. This is why, in practice, they never even consider any appelate cases until all lower avenues of appeal have already been exhausted, and most lawyers are astute enough to not even attempt to send lower cases to them, knowing they will be rejected without a glance.

Note that the 2000 election was a FEDERAL election, so SCOTUS did have jurisdiction.

"Allah" is the Arabic word for "god" and "God" (cognate with Hebrew "Eloah"/"Elohim"), and is also used in Arabic translations of Christian bibles.

Google: founding fathers deists

John Quincy Adams, Ethan Allen, Benjamin Franklin, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison, Thomas Paine, George Washington.

SCOTUS has the power to set the law of the land, but not the power of clairvoyance. What they say about the founding fathers is just their opinions. To see what the founding fathers ACTUALLY thought, read what they wrote, as I did.

I cited FOUR in my previous post - Adams, Jefferson, DofI, Treaty of Tripoi - weren't you paying attention?

Commandments From Jesus

Nicole_Lacey:

God did not abandon his convenants with the Jews to start over. That convenant still stands. However, he made a new covenant that included all poeple, not just Jews.

Are YOU part of God's covenant with the Jews, or are you not? If you not, you prove my point. If you are, do you obey all 613 laws of the Old Testament? If not, why not?

I don't need to answer about the paschal lamb, because I do not consider myself bound by those 613 laws. However, my questions to you ARE relevant if you DO consider that those laws apply to you.

Tithe To Abused Animals

Penny:

God gave land (and attendent income from crops, livestock, etc.) to all Tribes of Israel but one - Levi. To compensate Levi for lack of property and income, other tribes gave them 10% of their increase. This was not "donating to the Gospel". It was a social welfare specifically instituted to address an inherent imbalance in societal wealth.

In the New Testament, we are to support the Gospel, but nowhere does it say that the old testament practice of tithing has been transferred over to the church, because we have no class forbidden from owning property. These days, most churches, DO own property, and profit from its use (e.g. renting out space, etc.)

Is Disaster Looting Sinful

If a natural disaster occurs, and people are starving, and there is food going to waste inside a store that can save their lives and it's going to go rotten anyway, I don't think anyone would fault them for taking it. However, who "needs" jewelry or electronic equipment? Most of the looters you see on TV are people using natural disasters as an excuse to needlessly enrich themselves. They're just using the disaster as an excuse for theft. They're doing it not out of necessity, but out of greed.

"Creator" and "Divine Providence" do not necessarily imply Christianity. Pagan religions also believed in creators and divine providence. Many of the founding fathers were Deists - they believed in some nebulous divine entity, but not the Judaeo-Christian concept of God as such.

The Treaty of Tripoli in 1796 mentions that "the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion."

Church of the Holy Trinity v. United States was a hundred years later - so it was NOT the opinions of the Founding Fathers, as they were all dead.

So, some of the founding fathers intends this to be a Christian nation, and some didn't.

Commandments From Jesus

Nicole_Lacey:

Jesus's disciples, and most of his listerners were Jews, so they were bound by the covenant of circumcision to obey the Law of Moses. Jesus didn't abolish the law. Jews are STILL required to obey it. However, we, as Christians are not part of that covenant, because we are not Jews.

Do YOU personally believe that we are required to obey all 613 (thanks) of the Laws of Moses? If you do, when was the last time you traveled to Jerusalem during Passover, and slaughtered a lamb and sprinkled its blood over your door posts? If you don't, why not, and why are you bringing it up?

The Supreme Court has original jurisdiction in cases involving federal law. It also has appellate jurisdiction in cases involving state law that have already been appealed all the way to state Supreme Courts, if there are questions of federal law (e.g. if there is a question about whether state laws are constitutional with respect to the federal constitution).

As a Canadian citizen, my allegiance is to my country of citizenship. It MUST remain that way until and unless I renounce my citizenship. If I become a U.S. citizen, THEN I will pledge allegiance> Do you understand?

You claim that our country was founded on Judeo-Christian values, but which founders said that? Please cite references.

The Declaration of Independence said governments derive their power from the consent of the governed (not God).

John Adams said the U.S. is not founded in any sense on the Christian religion.

Thomas Jefferson said one day the belief in the virgin birth of Jesus would be classified with the fable of the generation of Minerva by Jupiter.
