Is Punishment Forever

Billy,

Rev. 4:1 "After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter."

John was shown literal reality to come. Not some new age experience. He saw the real deal.

Are Abortions Ever Right

saultopaul, you are raising frivolous comparisons. Kraft? So feeding my family is supporting murder... not even close. Next you are going to say something off the wall like, anyone that eats beef is a murderer because they are supporting the farmers that raise the livestock that harvests harmful bacteria that killed someone in Mongolia. Get real. you help kill babies, the end.

Is The Whole Bible True

Billy, if it were a vision it would defeat the purpose. Satan was trying to tempt Christ. Satan told Christ to prove who he was by jumping off a building to have angels save him. That doesnt work real well in a vision. Satan set up a real world scenario in an attempt to cause Christ to stumble. Then the other verse starts the same way as if Satan does the same thing. "AGAIN, the devil taketh him up into" Matt. 4:8

How To Stop The Liberals

ps. I did see National Treasure and thought it was a great film... I hope that hollywood makes more PG rated movies like it. ...oh, and before I forget, you should check out some of the other historically accurate films from the company who brought us National Treasure, such as The Shaggy Dog, Chicken Little, or Growing Up With Winnie The Pooh.

What Is Your Favorite TV Show

So you think that the Lord approves of Charmed and Harry Potter? "Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil." 1 Thess. 5:21,22

Sorry, but I think someone that really has that gift would be able to see the dangers of these shows. It proves that the gifts have ceased.

Lari_S, "echad" is a uniplural adjective describing several items in one unit or group in most of the Bible. That doesnt even really matter anyway. Deut. 6:4 DOES actually mean a "single" God. Which all the rest of scripture clearly indicate has 3 parts. Kinda like saying a car has a motor, body and chassis. 3 parts... 1 car.

Lari_S, you need to pitch the encyclopedias.

In 250 AD Cyprian of Carthage, wrote, "And again, of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost it is written: And the three are One" in his On The Lapsed, On the Novatians

And before that 200 AD Tertullian quoted 1 John 5:7 in his Apology, Against Praxeas

2. Secondly, I have shown you twice that the word "one" in Deuteronomy 6:4 is plural. The hebrew word echad (translated one in Deuteronomy 6:4) proves this when you look at its usage in other scriptures. See Genesis 11:6; Genesis 34:16; Exodus 24:3; Ezra 2:64 for examples.

Lari_S... look at my previous post. It shows you that the word "one" in Deut. 6:4 does not necessarily mean single. The other scriptures I quoted show the same hebrew word used elsewhere as "one" yet it is obviously plural.

Lari_S, let's look at Deuteronomy 6:4 which you have referred to before. "The LORD our God is one LORD:"

The word "one" (hebrew-echad) from that verse as used elsewhere:

"Behold, they are one [echad] people..." Genesis 11:6
"We'll settle among you and become one [echad] people with you." Genesis 34:16
"and all the people answered with one [echad] voice" Exodus 24:3
"The whole [echad] assembly numbered 42,360," Ezra 2:64

Alan, I agree Christians are not perfect... also many profess Christianity with their lips, but not their hearts. But the point isnt what we do, its what the gospel of Christ says. I know what you mean (and am also guilty) about the way we can be cold in our debates (which I think most of us are here because we truly care about out brothers), yet when it comes down to it... the best people that I know are Christians who are wonderful Christ loving people. Lets not let a few bad apples spoil the whole lot.

Alan, Here is another example of nakedness being shameful... note that they were not fully naked which shows that nakedness includes improper dress.

Isaiah 20:4 "So shall the king of Assyria lead away the Egyptians prisoners, and the Ethiopians captives, young and old, naked and barefoot, *even with their buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt."

*to say this suggests that some of them was covered.

Lari_S, I am beginning to think you are just ignoring what we are saying.... There is only 1 God. Only 1, Uno, single, less than 2, 9 less than 10. So every scripture you find that says there is only 1 God is perfectly correct. Now... that 1 God is composed of 3 distict (not seperate) parts. Just like humans have a body, soul and spirit... each are different when looked at seperately, but combine them and you get a human.

2. if you can explain how the scriptures you quoted contradict us when we say there is 1 god then please do.

-I think that if Christians had been like Christ, Gandhi would have becme a Christian.

No way. If Gandhi really liked Christ, then he would become a Christian. Blaming others is no excuse. Gandhi is saying Christians dont act like Christ... then he must know who Christ is. He has heard the truth and turned away from it. Otherwise why would he care that there is apostacy happening? He would be worrying about pleasing Christ rather than judging his followers.

alan, read Leviticus 18:6-18... it is a bit lengthy, but pretty much says it all.

also, Exodus 28:42; Exodus 32:25 (nakedness equated with shame); Isaiah 47:3 (nakedness equated with shame); Genesis 9:22-23; Habakkuk 2:15; John 21:7 (hiding nakedness).

-Tof ... "If a man is prone to lust", it will be an issue even at a ball where all are dressed "modestly"
---alanUKquent64534 on 3/1/07

You know what you are right and wrong. Yes a man prone to lust can lust anywhere anytime, but there IS a difference between clothed and unclothed. It is human nature to find nakedness more seducing than being fully clothed... you know that. The entertainment world sure does... any chance to show some skin to gain interest.

alanUKquent64534, your 5 posts prove my point. All are cultures of the secular world. Just because a community chooses to live a certain way, doesnt make it right. In the US, we think nothing of the lack of bible teaching in public schools because we got used to it... 150 years ago you would not find a public school without bible teachings. So is today's culture right? Maybe if you are worldly, but not if you are trying to live for God.
