Banned Christianity In Public

Mod is right. That is life in that part of our world.

I'm not sure why our country is even mentioned. Our Constitution allows for all religions to practice freely. What always concerns me is how some believers seem to think that means other religions shouldn't fight for their 1st Amendment rights.

Read Only The Bible

I have been blessed by many Christian authors, who have used their gift of teaching, through writing, to share how God has brought them through various trials, and struggles. There is nothing wrong with leisure reading by Christian authors.

I've always enjoyed fiction reading, and have found several good Christian authors, who write clean, God honoring stories, where the characters talk about the Lord, and their relationship with Him. The books got me through six long weeks of being shut-in last year.

How To Protect Relative

Karen, you need to get some perspective. I have already explained to you that just because someone asks for advice doesn't mean that advice is what God guides them to do.

I really feel sorry for your husband's congregation. Their pastor's wife has such a critical, judgemental spirit.

Version Of The Bible

Shira: "Biblesoft" is not a "soft Bible." It is not a Bible at all. It is a Bible software package that Rita once owned. She used it as a Bible study tool. It is called "Biblesoft" because that is short for Bible software. This is why I suggested the website Biblegateway for her.

I hope this helps clear up any confusion you may have.

Version Of The Bible

Speaking of Bible software, I like to use Biblegateway. It's a website, which is a Bible search engine. You can enter any scripture passage, word of phrase, and it will give you all of the hits from those. It also allows you to use any Bible translation, including foreign languages. It's a wonderful Bible study tool. It's also available as an App for a iPhone and iPad.

Version Of The Bible

I use the NIV for church, and study. I also have a parallel Bible, with the KJV, NASB, and Amplified translations. My church uses the ESV.

How To Meet Believers

KarenD: Don't put words in my mouth. I did not say I'm the only person who disagrees with people at church. I'm like all the rest of the congregation, and have my opinions like everyone else. I disagree with some people, and agree with some people. I just keep my opinions to myself, and lead by example of my service there.

How To Protect Relative

Karen: If you read all of Darlene's posts in this thread, it was by discussing the situation with us that she was able to make the decision she made. Darlene does NOT gossip, and you shouldn't make such accusations against her.

How Often To Praise God

Tired: The Christians I know do NOT hate the Law. The Law showed me I am a sinner, and needed Jesus, to make a way to a relationship with God the Father.

Jesus was asked which Commandment was the greatest. He gave two, to love God, with all our heart, soul, and mind, and to love our neighbor as ourselves. He told us that those two Laws, summed up all the Law and the Prophets.

Have you ever admitted that you are a sinner, and that you need Jesus to provide a way for you to have a personal relationship with God? Have you ever asked Him to be your Savior? It's your turn to answer a question.

How To Meet Believers

Tired, I used to find fault with lots of people at the churches I attended. This elder was too legalistic, that one prayed too long, this woman was a busy body, etc. I didn't agree with so many of my sisters and brothers in the Lord, and was disobedient in not loving them.

Then, 12 years ago, I found myself living alone. My husband had left, and my children were all grown and on their own. God did a major work on me, and it was so powerful, I cried I was so ashamed.

Now, while I may disagree with many of my fellow church members, on a lot of things, I get along with all of them. Christ's love for me is so great, I'm able to look beyond our differences.

How To Protect Relative

I'd sit him down, and tell him your concerns. Start by reminding him that you love him. If he's a believer, it might help to remind him that as such, we are supposed to be good stewards.

God bless.

How Often For Communion

Cliff, I'm pretty sure Jesus said, "Do this in remembrance of me," at the Lord's Supper.

How Often For Communion

There are no rules on how often we should take communion. My church does communions services monthly, usually on the first Sunday of the month.

Wine Or Grape Juice

When my husband was in the Army, the chapel services offered both wine and grape juice. The churches since then have only offered grape juice.

Which Church Do You Attend

David, If you don't believe in salvation by grace, then please explain Ephesians 2:8 & 9.

Romans teaches that grace does not give believers license to sin.

1John teaches if we claim we do not sin, as believers, then we are lying.

Do you believe these teachings? I learned all of these books of the Bible during Sunday School and sermons in the past 40 years attending Baptist churches.

If you believe Christians don't sin, you are mistaken.
