Explain Genesis 3:24

Can you imagine Adam in a fallen state with access to a tree that gives eternal life? After 70-80 years, we aren't looking very good, imagine Adam at about 6000 years now? Blocking the entry, I believe, was an act of grace!

Tree Of Good And Evil

"I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live." (Deut. 30:19) We clearly have a choice, God may ultimately know what that choice is, but we have a choice. Adam simply chose poorly and we have been paying for that in the form of death, disease, and decay ever since.

Jesus Delays Second Coming

What does Messiah delay his coming? Acts 3:19-21 in part.

Blessings.

Harold Camping October 21 2011

Personally, I don't think what Camping did had any good in it. He profaned the name of YHWH by speaking with His authority and failing to come through. He mislead many who sold their belongings to follow a lie. He did nothing but paint Christianity as entertainment. The TRUTH sets us free, not false prophecy! No man knows the day or hour, it's that simple! :-)
Peace.

Struggle With Some Scriptures

I don't find the Proverbs verse inconsistent at all. When somebody is fired up, they will only get more fired up if you are loud and agressive as well. But if you back off, speak softer, it is more likely they will follow suite.
Peace!

Is There An Aura Around You

Can't prove this, it's just a thought! I think Adam and Chava existed in light and that when Adam sinned the light went out and they were able to see their nakedness. I imagine before sin Adam could see things we can not even perceive today. The aura is what is left, and might even be that part of God's breath which gives life??

Did God Create The Devil

"All things were created by Him and without Him nothing was made." That should cover that. Now on to something more interesting. In Hebrew, satan is always written as "ha-satan." (The satan) No name ever has "the" in front of it, we don't see ha-Abraham, ha-Moshe, ha-David, etc. This might indicate that ha-satan is a group of fallen ones rather than just one.

What Is Moral Law

It is important to understand, the bible does not differentiate between what many call the moral law, and what many call ceremonial law. There is one Torah (God's instructions) which has 613+/- commands, and they are called everlasting according to scripture.

Old Testament Followed Today

It might help with some folk's understanding if you simply ridded yourself of the word "testament." Does God write wills, or does he makes covenants? The issue with the word is "b'rit" (a covenant cut with blood) does not translate into Greek exactly, and diatheke is as close as Greek can come to that concept... hence "testament" comes into play.

Also, when 2 Tim 3:16-17 was written, there was no NT. It would be a couple of hundred years before there would be. So is the NT inspired? I say yes... but that doesn't change the fact that Paul was not referencing the NT in those verses. Only the Torah and Prophets existed as "scripture" in that day.

Old And New Testament

Part of the reason many have a hard time reconciling the two sides of scripture is we are not taught to read scripture through a Hebraic mind. We see sacrifices for example, and we see an angry god in need of appeasement. We don't see how these sacfices pointed to Yehoshua. We are taught that the law was for then and grace is for now... not stopping to read the great accounts of grace depicted in the OT. Moses being sent to free a people who couldn't free themselves? Joseph's WHOLE life and amazing reunion in Egypt? We need to learn to read more Hebraically, and less through a western mind.

New Testament Church

The Greek word translated as church is ekklesia. When we read the Septiagent, the Greek OT translated from Hebrew for Greek speaking Jews about 300 years before Messiah... we see that the word ekklesia is used often. When all the "Israelites" were called before Mt. Sinai, the word used is ekklesia. All it means is to be "called out" or "the called out ones."

This is why it is so important to grasp what Ephesians 2 is saying. We WERE gentiles but we NOW through faith are fellow members of the Commonwealth of Israel.

PS.... new covenant prophecy in Jer. 31:31-34/ Hebrews 8.... do we see "the church" or "gentiles" listed anywhere?

Should We Eat All Things

I personally don't eat pork or anything listed as unclean in scripture. The reason I don't is simple... God knew before he sent Messiah what Messiah's mission would accomplish. If the mission meant an end to Torah, God knowing ahead of time would not have called Torah "everlasting" when he gave it. God doesn't change and he isn't the author of confusion... so everlasting means everlasting in my view. We can sit here and make a list of the many aspects of Torah that we know are still for today. (not making idols, serving only God, not stealing, etc.) Did the nailing of Torah to the cross only rid us of SOME commands? Where do we draw the line and who gets to pick and choose?

False Replacement Theology

When we read Romans 11 we see that as believers we have been graffed into the Olive Tree. In Ephesians 2 we see we WERE gentiles in the flesh, HAD no hope, WERE not partakers of the covenants, and WERE aliens of the Commonwealth of Israel. But now through the blood of Messiah, we are no aliens of the Commonwealth of Israel, we are fellow citizens.

We do not replace we become. The new covenant is made ONLY with the House of Judah and the House of Israel. (Jer. 31:31-34/Heb. 8) There is no mention of anyone else in the prophecy. So either we are part of Israel as per Eph. 2, or we are not a part of the new covenant.

Faith Without Works Biblical

More Exc. way... if the works are done, why are you on these boards? Apparently there is no teaching that needs to be done because that is a work. So why are you here?

Jewish View Of The Holy Spirit

1st Cliff... where did you get the idea that most of the early converts were Pharisees? Actually, the Sadducees were the priests and when they went into Babylon there was no Temple, thus no power for the Sadducees. In Babylon, the Pharisees built synogogues in order to have the ability to operate. When they came out of Babylon, the synogogues came with them, and the Sadducees were left out of power. The talmud refers to the Sadducees as "Christian" and seeing they as a group seem to disappear in the first century, it would seem they either became Pharisees or attached to the Yehoshua group.

Can We Eat Pork

This subject deals with Law. Has God's Laws been done away with? Did Jesus free you from God's laws? Was the law nailed to the cross, or were sin and death nailed to the cross?

As Christians we are quick to post the 10 commandments, but then turn and only keep 9 of them. We tithe, but then say the law is dead. We read Jesus say as long as heaven and earth are here, so is the law... and then say he nailed the law to the cross. We look at Torah (Law) as bondage, punishment to the Jews, and then ignore David who called Torah a Delight, or Moses who called it Light.

Is Law the bondage, or was sin and death the bondage?

Could Jesus Come Back Today

To answer the OP's question:

Act 3:19 Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord,
Act 3:20 And he shall send Jesus Christ, which before was preached unto you:
Act 3:21 Whom the heaven must receive UNTIL the times of restitution of all things, which God hath spoken by the mouth of all his holy prophets since the world began.

What was spoken by the prophets of old. When that message is received again, restored, Messiah will return.

Peace.

Lord's Name In Vain

joseph has it correct,it has everything to do with how we walk in God's authority. The Hebrew word "shem," which we define in English as "name," means more than just name in Hebrew. It is representative, in this case, of God's power and authority, his character, his attributes. When we take his name in vain (vain means to make of no worth or useless). So when we take his shem (name) in vain, we are making his authority and power of no value. An example? A prophet can say "thus says the Lord" and then tell us what will come to pass. But if that prophet doesn't speak according to God's authority, he is taking his name in vain, and that thing he spoke will not come to pass!

To StevenG. And my point? I guess you didn't go back and look at it with a fresh perspective. No worries, you are free to see it as you do.
