Don't Talk Bad About Spouse

I agree, you can never "unspill the milk", once said, those comments can come back to "haunt" your marriage for the remainder of your relationship. However, if there is abuse, there is nothing in the Bible that supports the abuse of one's mate. I don't know when Church's thought it would be wise to "turn a blind-eye" to such behavior & state that as a church they should not get involved when the Bible clearly states we-as Christians should be able to judge matters within the church INSTEAD of taking these matters to the pagan court of law. WOW--have we verved far from God's intent?

Wets His Pants During Spanking

I do not believe in spanking children, under ANY circumstances. Please read some books about disciplining with love and affection, not through fear. Anyone can see that your poor son is terrified, and even if he grows up to be a "good kid" he will be emotionally distant from you. Please think about this and do not abuse your poor little son any further. You need to get some professional help if this is the only way you can think of to handle him. I myself have a 4-year-old so I know what you're going through, but have found that positive (instead of negative) reinforcement can go a long way. I beg you, do some research, despite what some well-intended (or otherwise) "experts" will tell you, there's no good reason to spank.

Do End Times Scare You

Frances008,

So you're putting your faith in a freezer? You really need to stop reading stuff on the internet and get back to your Bible. Let God's peace rule your heart.

When I mentioned you need to be tested about what you claim God is telling you, there was no response. I asked you to show verses, in context, that support your claims, but you could not. You are trying to spread fear, but this does not line up with scripture because God has not given us a spirit of fear.

Billy Graham's Salvation Belief

BruceB,

Evangelists often speak at stadiums. Many people give their lives to Jesus and it would not be possible to baptize all of them on the spot.

There are two main camps, one that puts too little emphasis on water baptism, one that puts too much. Jesus said you must be born again, He used the example of wind, which you can't see, but you can see it's power. In the same way, when you're born again you receive the Holy Spirit and your sins are forgiven. This happens internally, so water baptism is the outward expression of what God has done.

Bottom line is if a person is baptized but there is no genuine repentance, he does not receive the Holy Spirit and his sins are not forgiven, he's just getting wet.

Friend Becoming A Mormon

Jackie,

Consider these verses:

"To whom will you liken Me...and compare Me, that we should be alike."

"Hear, O Israel: the LORD our God, the LORD is one!"

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

"I and My Father are one."

"...God, who cannot lie...has in due time manifested His word through preaching, which was committed to me according to the commandment of God our Savior...peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Savior."

"Before Me there was no God formed, nor shall be after Me. I am the LORD, and besides Me there is no savior."

Continued.

Jackie,

The questions you presented are reasonable. The problem is, we can't set aside any of these verses, whatever we believe about God must line up with all of them. They tell us there is only one God and one Savior, not two, not three.

God is a Being like no other, so we can't compare Him to a person or anything in our experience.

To say there are two gods, or three, violates scripture.

Here's the thing, we must come to scripture not demanding that it explain what we don't fully understand, but understanding that God has revealed a mystery that will one day be fully explained.

Who is Chuck Missler?

BruceB,

It's not my job to change your mind, nor yours to change mine. God can change whoever's mind needs changing.

Ready for the Tribulation, well, those are brave words, but... Peter thought he could stand up to anything, too.

My point about the Jews being special was if God decides Jews, Christians, or individuals, are special, who are we to decide they're not? That's a poor argument against the Rapture, as is the idea that Satan wants people to believe this.

Most who hold to the Pre-T view believe that to be left behind means their repentance wasn't genuine, not that the Bible lied. So their repentance would probably get genuine pretty doggone quick.

BruceB,

Why are the JEWS God's chosen people, what makes THEM so special? If God says they're special to Him, we just have to accept that. It's not because they're better than anyone else, and it doesn't mean He doesn't love the rest of us.

Out of 12 disciples, 3 had a closer relationship with Jesus. King David was called a man after God's own heart.

When those left behind see destruction, they will be forced to cry out to God. Rev. says a multitude will lose their lives for their faith (see Rev. 7:9-17). Only the 144,000 Jews will be protected during this time (see Rev. 7:3-8). As I said, the Tribulation deals specifically with the Jews and unbelievers, a multitude of whom repent.

Who is Chuck Missler?

BruceB,

In Revelation chapter 5 a scroll is given to Jesus and He begins to break the seals. The ensuing destruction causes a multitude to repent, and these Tribulation saints are martyred for their faith.

Paul tells us that before the Tribulation begins the Church is raptured, which explains why these saints don't go straight to heaven. Whereas Christians were His witnesses during the Church age, now the 144,000 Jews are given this work. This is an amazing thing, because the Jews didn't do a great job the first time and rejected their Messiah.

What surprises me is how people have been convinced this is an evil end time view. That is a gross over-statement.

Who is Chuck Missler?

BruceB,

John said "It was granted to him to make war with the saints and to overcome them."

Jesus said "... on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it."

I don't believe Jesus lied, the difference between Tribulation saints and Church saints is that during the Church age, Christians put their faith in Jesus without seeing any proof and the Tribulation saints don't come to faith until they see the destructive end time events.

OT saints did not receive the Holy Spirit and went to Abrahams Bosom until after Jesus' sacrifice. The Tribulation saints will not receive the Holy Spirit either and after being martyred will have to wait (see Rev. 6:9-11).

Billy Graham's Salvation Belief

BruceB,

Billy Graham is first and foremost an evangelist. As such, he's not going to focus a lot on doctrinal issues.

Evangelists, when speaking to large crowds, typically give a simple message designed to draw people to Jesus Christ. They're not going to spend a lot of time talking about everything YOU have to do, but what JESUS has done for you. Usually there are people available to speak to and pray with individuals who are making a commitment to Jesus at the end of the message, at which time they are encouraged to find a local church, read their Bibles, pray, etc.

Their local church will take care of guiding them thru the salvation process and start teaching them about Christian living.

Witnessing Without Speaking

If your life doesn't reflect what you believe, you've got a problem. First of all, that holds more weight than anything that comes out of your mouth. The way you live will either confirm that your actions are consistent with your beliefs, or label you a hypocrite.

The Bible calls us to be salt and light. Light, because your life cannot be hidden and should model godly living, that's the first thing people see. Salt, because your beliefs should be an important ingredient in your speech. Without light, dark prevails. Salt, left unused, loses its flavor and is good for nothing.

Although your lifestyle can be a powerful witness for your faith, it is also important to be ready to give a defense for the hope that is in you.

Creation Or Evolution

Jerry6593,

Very good. I agree it's not right for our government to decide creationism can't be taught in schools alongside evolution, but they're going to fight tooth and nail to keep it that way. The only thing we can do, and I did this, is educate our own children at home.

I started early, explaining what the Bible says and what my son would hear at school. We've had many interesting discussions over the years, and he's never wavered in his faith in God's word. He's 28 now, went to college, recently married, and is already thinking about what his own children (someday) will be learning in school.

Evolution versus Creationism

Jerry6593,

I agree, I can't understand how people who don't trust the Bible because it's "written by men" can put their faith in the God it describes.

Personally, I find that a lame effort to discredit God's authorship of the Bible.

I don't know about you, but I'm not aware of any document on this planet that wasn't written by men (other than the 10 Commandments), yet I don't hear people saying they don't trust ANY book for that reason.

Oftentimes an author has someone else write his/her book, yet this has never been an issue for anyone, why is it a problem for men to have written down God's word?

Is Harold Camping Correct

Raymond,

You were right to walk away when you realized he taught falsely. People like yourself, who are aware of their failings and are self-condemning, seem to respond to someone who validates their feelings of unworthiness.

Camping teaches that if you cry out to God, He MIGHT save you. That is not the message of the gospel. The good news is that Jesus paid the penalty for your sin. Salvation is by grace, not by works. You will struggle with sin all your life, but you are no longer condemned, because you've been forgiven.

The warning to those who say they love Jesus but do not do what He says is for those who are practicing sin with an unrepentant heart.

Jackie,

I believe with all my heart that there are good-hearted, honest people in religions I don't agree with, I also believe that anyone who is in a false religion or cult deserves to be warned that they are in danger.

You are in danger because you're following the teachings of a false prophet. I say this in love, not with any desire to attack you but to draw you away from false teachings back to the Eternal God and Savior Jesus Christ.

I was not endlessly tutored to believe a Trinitarian concept, in fact, I was warned against it all my life. It was not until I became a Christian that I began to study to see for myself what the truth was.
