Two State Middle East Solution

Moderator, By not publishing my opinion you are also engaging in racism. Why should only pro-Israel comments be allowed? Why ban anything that suggests the atrocities occurring in Israel? What hidden agenda do you have? Stop being hypocritical!

What If Big Bang Is True

Laurie, The Bible doesn't teach physical death was a result of sin. 1) Genesis 2 says that they would die in the day they ate of the fruit but they lived physically for several hundred years. Adam and Eve died spiritually. That's why they felt nakedness and were cast out of the garden. 2) Adam and Eve "ate" food. Plants died and bacteria in their gut that allowed them to digest food have short life spans. There are many smaller life forms with less than 24 hour life spans. 3) Faith in Christ restores relationship with God not our physical bodies. What you suggest goes not only against biblical teaching but against what we experience in reality.

Laurie: "I say the Bible takes precedence over the five senses."

I'm glad you had the guts to answer. Warwick avoided the question. Problem is that the resurrection of Christ is proved by the 5 senses. They saw, heard and touched him. In fact, faith in all biblical events is based on empirical observation, the same empirical observation that we base our claims for the age of the universe. If we can't trust our senses to measure the universe, we certainly cannot trust what the witnesses saw? None of us has direct revelation from God. We must all rely on the empirical accounts of the written word thus science is equally to be trusted.

Obama's Marijuana Possession

Obama would do better if he repealed marijuana laws. It's no more dangerous than cigarettes and has medicinal value. More powerful drugs like morpheme are legal. The abuse of prescription drugs is were we need to focus more attention and provide help. We need the government out of regulating medicine and let the individual have the freedom to decide for himself what treatments he needs. We are soon going to have forced testing of our children for various new "diseases" so the pharmaceutical companies can force our children to buy and take more drugs.

Warwick, I would have thought that the "test" that the 24 hr day failed was obvious. I've said it many times already. IT DOESN'T MATCH REALITY, the reality of a much longer existence for the universe measured by the 5 senses. Read astronomer Dr. Hugh Ross, "A Beginner's - and Expert's - Guide to the Big Bang: Sifting Facts from Fictions" at Reasons to Believe. Great article listing the evidence for the Big Bang.

Warwick, "where do you see this age?"

Finally got my answer in. (It's frustrating when the moderator doesn't let one's comments pass without umpteen submissions.)

So what do you think the many evidences of the Big Bang Ross outlines in his article? They are all footnoted. You can spend the next 6 months reading them and refuting each one if you like. I'll read your paper when you get it published. In the meantime forgive me if I stick to the mainline astronomer's, physicist's and earth scientist's claims for the Big Bang. The burden of proof is now on you to refute each of Ross' evidences.

AntiChrist Will Save Israel

miche3754, I'm not talking about preaching and teaching when I use the term "prophesy". I'm talking about direct revelation from God and there is no evidence it is happening. 1) It must be accompanied with signs an wonders but nothing verifiable takes place. If true, have your healer go to the nearest hospital and empty it by healing everyone. Get him on the news so the whole world can see. Then preach the gospel. 2) Even if someone prophesied we would have to compare it to scripture, believe what matches scripture and toss the rest aside. So what's the point? We have the scripture already. Who needs prophesy? 3) Paul said prophesy would cease when the church was consummated. That consummation happened in A.D. 70.

Laurie,

I disagree with Amborse. Temporal death, natural disasters, disease are all a part of God's "good" (not perfect) world. None of those things are "evil". Jesus defined "evil" as what comes out of the heart. (Mark 7:20-23) The Bible does not teach "original sin". We are not born sinners. We are not sinners until we defile ourselves with sinful behavior. The penalty for man's sin was his separation from God, "spiritual death" and he received it on the day he sinned, "in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die." (Gen 2:17) Jesus didn't save us from physical death. He saves us from spiritual death and gives us eternal life in heaven.

Rod,

Although Adam was made fully grown he didn't appear "old". If one was to test his body it would measure "new" just like Naaman's skin was like that of a little child after he was healed of leprosy.

Your conclusion that "God did it" in reference to the creation of the universe (Big Bang or not) is absolutely true.

How To Become Saved

Bob,

Rom 10 doesn't mention baptism but there was no unbaptized Christian in the NT. Often the word "faith" is used as a synecdoche, the part represents the whole. So if the scripture says, "You are saved by your faith." faith represents the whole salvation process which includes baptism. Since baptism in 1 Cor 12:13 brings one into the body of Christ, I see no difference with this verse and Rom 6:3 and Gal 3:27. It's water baptism that's being talked about not the two cases of the "baptism of the Holy Spirit," once to the Apostles and once to the house of Cornelius.

How To Become Saved

Bob,

You can't use and Old Covenant example for salvation in the New Covenant. The thief on the cross was an Old Covenant Jew, just like Abraham was. He went to Hades paradise and had to await there for the resurrection of the dead just like all the rest of Israel's faithful.

When the thief died the New Covenant hadn't started yet. It started at Pentecost and that's when baptism began as the initiation ceremony into the New Covenant. (Acts 2:38) 3000 were baptized on that day. Again there is no NT example of an unbaptised Christian. It is a part of the salvation process.

Full Partial Preterism

Hi Bobby,

Although you had never said it outright I figured you were partial preterist from your responses in the other blogs. You're summary was good and accurate.

Tell me, what preterist books have you read?

What If Big Bang Is True

Nick, "God deliberately created the universe and Earth with an appearance of age in order to fool those of us who care to study these issues."

Is God fooling us? Take that idea to it's logical conclusion. Maybe we only existed for a few minutes and all of our memories are implanted so we just appear to be old. Nothing we observe can be trusted. If God fools us about the age of the earth he might be fooling us about more important things like Christ's resurrection. In that case the trustworthiness of the Gospel is brought into question. Can't go down that road.

Full Partial Preterism

Cliff,

According to preterism, Armageddon happened in the 1st Century. The Old Testament types had their anti-types in Christ and the New Covenant.

What If Big Bang Is True

Warwick, Question: can you supply me one Scripture which says we should interpret Scripture through man's ideas?

Answer my question first. Which has precedence, the Bible or the scientific data based on what we observe through the five senses? Can we trust the five senses?

The same question to you too Laurie.

What If Big Bang Is True

jerry,

I think the "childish assumptions" are the ones being made by psudo-scientists who try to cram everything in nature into 6000 years rather than letting the scientific data speak for itself. I choose the scientific data and where it leads over your interpretation of the Bible any day.

Metaphors in Ps.72:5-7, Dan. 12:3 and Mic 6:2 make no sense if mountains and stars were only 6000 years old. They only have meaning with the long "day" interpretation.

Question: Which has precidence, the Bible or the scientific data based on what we observe through the five senses? Can we trust the five senses?

What If Big Bang Is True

jerry, Examples of faith and integrity called into question:
As Christian's God calls us to trust His word, by faith as absolute truth...You have rejected God's eye-witness account of creation.
The devil is hard at work today." And many of the heathens are Christians themselves.
You seem more trusting in falible scientific ideas that God's perfect word.
re-interpreting God's word via ever changing philosophies of falible sinful man.
That sure sounds like an admission of faith in the word of man over the Word of God. It sounds like you're on the verge of burning the Bible - not just banning it!...That makes it BLIND FAITH! LOL!
Your logic would be comical, if it weren't so pathetic.
