Can The Holy Spirit Leave

Are all you OSAS people meaning to say that a drunk, crack smoking, lying, adulterous thief who plays with ouija boards, has his palms read, cheats on his taxes, spreads vicious rumors about his neighbors and co-workers, and gambles away his paycheck so that his kids go hungry.....is going to hell, but a person who once said "the sinners prayer" years ago but now does all these same things......is going to HEAVEN???

I agree with you. There are MANY sharletons (I know I spelled that wrong) in the pulpit today. That's why I stress the point to pray ernestly and seek God's direction when deciding where one should attend church. Sorry if I misunderstood your opinion about Pastors in general and the IMPORTANCE of belonging to a local body of believers

Now, this man knew he was lost. But as far as you question goes, with most people- we DO need to alert them of their sinful condition- but ALWAYS, with LOVE. How do they know they need a savior if they dont realize they're lost?

pt 2: When the man was diagnosed with cancer, he asked for my husband to come and pray for him. He accepted the Lord Jesus and died a few months later, a Christian. His wife had been "WITNESSING" to him for over 30 years. My husband knew him about 6 months

EXACTLY! You're right Daphne. Now, our church is not part of an organization, we are independant. BUT....we have several 'Pastors' in our lives that are all truly anointed men of God, who we go to for all the things I've mentioned. And, we sit under thier ministry when we can. We are not above learning OR BEING CORRECTED

pt 3: Somebody just slapped the helmet of salvation on them, and sent them off into the battlefield with nothing else on but that, and they nearly got clobbered to death! God has not called us to go out and just rack up points by seeing how many people we can talk into letting us 'pray them through to salvation'- that's only the beginning. If we're not teaching them and discipling them, or pointing them in the direction of someone who will, then we're not doing what God called us to do.

Jer 3:15 "And I will give you pastors according to mine heart, which shall feed you with knowledge and understanding." I can't tell you how many people I have seen fall by the wayside because someone led them to the Lord, then just told them to "read their bible and pray, and they'd be alright". Happens every time- they start out in Genesis, or 'worse' yet- Revelation, and either get bored to death or scared to death! And they have NO idea how to develop a meaningful prayer life.

Heb 5:12-14 For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

pt 3: Ooooor....do you just leave them to flounder around on thier own, finding their way as best as they can?

pt 2: Or do you tell them that now that they are born again, they need these things and they should find a church to attend that teaches the uncompromised gospel and will take them in and love them, caring for them like a newborn baby needs caring for?
