Christians With Depression

Charles Spurgeon felt the pain of depression without calling depression sin. He said "Fits of depression come over most of us. The strong are not always vigorous, the wise not always ready, the brave not always courageous, the joyous not always happy." Even Christ was downcast. Life is not easy, even for the believer. If you can, get a copy of the book "Bright Days/Dark Nights" by Elizabeth Skoglund. We live in a fallen world and depression is painful and not out of the ordinary in this life. Some times we don't know why things happen the way they do, but we have to continue with our faith. Many Godly people have suffered with it, know God is always with you. Blessings

Predestination Or Free Will

"A man's freewill cannot cure him of even a toothache or a sore finger' yet he madly thinks that it is in his power to cure his soul." A Toplady- It makes me totally secure in my salvation and in my walk with my Lord, knowing everything is from Him, even my trials and tribulations. A deep sense of peace and joy that there is no more condemnation.

How To Get Saved

Truly believe on the Lord Jesus and you will be saved. Christ death made salvation not only possible but a sure thing for those that are born again of the Holy Spirit. "But as many as recieved Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who BELIEVE in His name, who were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God." John 1:12,13 Christ died for true believers.

Is Salvation For Everyone

Thanks for your thoughts and words christian, I've read them over a few times and it's encouraging to know that it is absolutly nothing that I've done but a 100% grace. Even I have to remind myself of that, the gift of God is truly amazing. Thank you my friend.

Is Salvation For Everyone

Nikki and others, there are people here who give you bible verse after bible verse about the soveriegnty of God and what scripture teaches. You folks contnue to have closed minds, it seems, when it comes to the Word of God. Give some bible verses and we can share about the Word of God. "The Lord hath made all things, yes, even the wicked for the day of doom". Prov.16:4 Show from the bible your position. Because bible is truth, not how we feel.

Is Salvation For Everyone

Nikki, we pray because that is our right as children of God. Christ prayed that He might not suffer the torments of the cross, that was not the will of God and Christ then went to the cross and took the sins of His people upon Himself. Prayers are a part of Gods plan. If we pray with a believeing heart we can recieve things from God if it is in line with His will.(Matt.21:22)You say why would God send an innocent person to hell, but the bible states that there are no innocent people but all are guilty before God. (Romans 3:19,3:23) We all died in Adam. We can be made alive in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit when He leads us to true faith and repentance. We have His righteuosness imputed to us and we become new creatures in Christ.

Is Salvation For Everyone

You're right shira4368 the elect can be anyone, we don't know who they are. We have the privilige to pray for people knowing that God will listen to our prayers as His believeing children. I am praying for a nephew who needs Christ and needs to be made alive in Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. To be born again by the Living God. No I,m not special at all.

Is Salvation For Everyone

Nikki, I'm not at all special. It was Gods will that I was chosen to believe on Christ (not mine) and I thank Him very much for that. I know I am one of His children because I have a love for Jesus in my heart and the Holy Spirit confirms that in me. To be honest I'm not sure why He chose me, but I'm am thankful for His promise to me. I pray for others that don't know Christ, because the only way they will come to faith is if the Holy Spirit makes them alive. "No one can come to Christ unless it is granted by the Father" John 6:65 God chose to put His love on me. Again it's not about me or you being special, but about His sovereignty. I believe that is what the bible teaches.

Is Salvation For Everyone

No, salvation is for the elect, chosen by God. 2 Thess.2:13 "God chose us for salvation and the Holy Spirit effected that in us to believe the gospel. We should always thank Him for that."

How To Deceive Yourself

Tony, if you are going to use my name please add some letters or numbers so people won't think you are me.

How To Deceive Yourself

Romans 3:14-16
14Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness:

15Their feet are swift to shed blood:

16Destruction and misery are in their ways:

MarkV, you always seem to fall into this description whenever kathr is discussing with another.

I find your two faced approach here, as a woman who runs from house to house gossiping. Are you sure you are not a woman? Something tells me you are. Your catty way of always running to cause more trouble is either a woman or you are just an evil person.

I don't see anything wrong with her question. And if anyone else said it, you too would have been all over it with your Calvinistic background.

Can We Lose Our Salvation

Matthew 27:46 says, My God, My God, why have you forsaken me? At that point on the Cross, Christ suffered the punishment of my sin, experiencing the wrath of God, that I may never have to. Pretty good news for me. He who knew no sin became sin for me and took my sin upon Himself, that I might never come into condemnation. He will never forsake me, because, Christ was forsaken on the cross for His people. He did what I could never do. I'm very thankful that in Christ I have everlasting life.

Can We Lose Our Salvation

No, Jesus took my sins upon Himself on the cross, therefore I have eternal life, which I'm very thankful for.

Must Be Baptized As Adult

I think you're one baptism is fine. Baptism is about God's promise to believers and their children, it's not what we do for God, but what He does for us, just as circumcision was in the old testament. God's covenant, that God made with Abraham, is the same covenant believers are in today. People make a big deal about immersion, but I don't think you can find anyone who went under the water in the bible. God's promise is being fulfilled in you.

Had To Find Biblical Teaching

I think a lot of pastors don't want make people uncomfortable, thinking that if they are around christians that it will rub off on the people living in sin and they might come to Christ, but I think preachers are to give them the law of God which doesn't happen for the most part.

How To Stop Sinning

If you feel condemned and miserable, that's probably a good sign. I think that would mean the Holy Spirit is working in your life.

Is Slavery Bibilical

There is a new christian book coming out called "Slave" or "Slaves". I just ordered mine, I think it will be very good. It will probably answer a lot of questions.

Can Predestined Reject Christ

No they can not reject Christ. Believers are kept by the power of God and have an inheritance that will never be taken away and God caused us to be born again. (1 Peter 1:3-5) Believers are His adopted kids, according to the good pleasure of His will. (Eph.1:5)

Pastors Rejecting Christ

Just because one has the title of pastor or priest does not mean they are in Christ, test the spirits and see if they are of God.
