Adultress Marriage Possible

Not to sound terrible but yall need to read your bibles a little more carefully. Marriage is until death do us part! As long as your first spouse is living you are commiting adultery in the eyes of the lord!

Can I Pray To Mary

Helen and Rebecca, You forget only God is all knowing and only He is perfect. Jesus showed His anger because He knew the hearts of those he was angry with. Know one else knows the heart of another. You can close your heart to others, be ugly, even generalize about a group of people, but that is not love. Pray instead of condemning.

Rebecca, you seem to have much anger. Wishing others harm is not the Christlike attitude I believe we are called to exhibit. Usually it is best to try to understand WHY someone believes differently from you rather than to condemn them. And Helen, I am sorry you joined in her ugly response. Discussions are better than ugly attacks.

Must We Worship Mary

lee, I am amazed how you act as though you know what Catholics believe and what they have in their homes. I know many many Catholics and don't know of a one who raises Mary to the level of God. Your misconceptions seem to have convinced you of untruths. Nor do they all have shrines to Saints as God. I know some cultures have a special place for remembering their departed loved ones--but they are not making them God.

It seems , Helen("that is why we need to ask God directly for the truth and know what His word says for ourselves")--sooo many interpretations. Let's go act on those words of His and be Him to others in our community and workplace and home---off the computer for now for me....

Helen, you seem to quote Scripture in parts. Read the whole of Matthew to get a better understanding on the ones you last quoted. Also, you got it--God is the only one who knows all...not you, not me. So, we must ponder His words in our hearts and "act on them".

Correct, 'God is not the author of confusion'. Therefore, we must not assume we know all just by believing in Him, but trust in His love and mercy humbling ourselves to learn more, doing our best to conduct ourselves with the heart of Jesus.

Helen, it sounds as though you were not being taught the correct ways of the RCC, therefore it is good that you were 'brought out' from there. For being taught the wrong things in the name of the RCC does much damage. I am glad that you are not feeling 'alone and miserable' anymore and hope that you can one day understand the correct teachings of the RCC.

Was Peter The First Pope

Do you think that possibly the acct of Peter's mistakes is there to show us God's mercy? Even Peter who first recognized Jesus, who was given the keys, who was told to tend to the flock, could be weak, too. WE are also shown how Peter reconciles. AS far as Paul 'setting him straight, this shows how the Holy See is set up. One man does not control the church for the church depends on the Holy Spirit. If you want to know what your 'catholic friends' are taught learn from a reputable Catholic source.

Excuse me, Helen, for I mistook you as the author of the blog.

I am amazed at how many times the same people are hooked on repeating the same misconceptions of the RCC. The RCC doesn't teach to worship our Lord's Mother, Mary.
Helen, you are enamored by this as it seems in your responses in other blogs. And Lee, your judgements on others is amazing, too. It is sad that your weren't taught the correct teachings of the RCC when you were young. It also seems that some don't really WANT to know the correct teachings of the RCC, just repeat the misconceptions.

Helen, You seem so confused. ONe time you seem to speak of our Lord's mother with concern for her feelings and other times you seem upset that anyone would "put so much confidence and trust in Mary... ". It seems that you are more confident in yourself, that we should put more trust in you than in Jesus' mother, Mary. Obviously, you don't understand the Rosary or the prayers or you wouldn't have made the statement in your blog title.

Your friend who asked a priest may not have had time to talk to him in depth or could have misunderstood, or the priest could have been going through some hard times himself, however the RCC clearly teaches that there is a hell. Eventhough something is in the teachings of the church, individuals are on their own journey and may wrestle with particular teachings, but trust in those teachings as they study more and pray about them and ponder them in their hearts.

Do Catholics Believe In Hell

Well, it looks as though you have heard from a few Catholics who clearly believe in hell as the RCC teaches. So, I guess you got the answer. Some may even call hell by different names but may understand it as the same place.

Can I Pray To Mary

Mary, alive in heaven, prays with and for us. If you use the words 'pray to' to mean adoration you are misunderstanding the concept. But this has been covered in previous blogs which I believe you responded to. Check out EWTN website for a better understanding of the Rosary and read Scott Hahn's Hail Holy Queen.

correct. Jesus Christ alone is my Saviour, our unique intercessor and all prayer goes through Him. I do believe that we are all God's children and prayer is also a familial gift. Our relationship with Him is not just vertical, me and Jesus, but horizontal as well-all of us. Therefore, our prayers with and for oneanother only strengthen that bond of love, compassion and faith that are trully from God. His Love is unconditional and so must our love mirror His. We are to go beyond ourselves as Jesus did.

Mother Theresa In Heaven Or Hell

Read books by Mother Theresa and you will understand her life much better.
I have heard from many a minister of many different faith practices that she is surely a woman of great faith and that we should look to her example of love for the Lord.
