Resting On Sabbath

As late as the 5th century most Christians were keeping the Sabbath. And much later than that in Ireland and Ethiopia.

Resting On Sabbath

>they tell you that salvation is by grace alone, and then tell you that only those obedient to the law (esp. the Sabbath commandment) will be saved eternally and that only after their theory of Investigative judgment.

The question is why do you obey the Law? Do you obey only becauise it is the law? Or, do you follow Jesus: If ye love Me, keep my commandments? The Law is based on the moral principle of love: love God with all your heart, mind and strength and your neighbor as yourself. It all based on Scripture and thus there is no contradiction.

Can Christians Drink Alcohol

>Jesus made wine, John 2:3-11, "and his disciples believed on him."

Notice verse 10. The "good wine" was the unfermented "wine."

Sabbath Breakers Going To Hell

>We can easily see that some Adventists do not believe one is saved by grace but depend upon their meritorious works to enable them to earn the free gift of their salvation.

The only one's who will be saved are those who are saved by faith in God's grace through the shed blood of His Son.

The reason you need to be saved is because you break God's law, whether it be through murder, or hate, or lies, or breaking the Sabbath.

>Because, when they started meeting they met the first day of the week.

Actually, no. In fact, until at least the 5th century most Christians kept the Sabbath. Search the web for Sozomen and the Sabbath.

>And everyday became Holy.

Only God can make a day holy and that day was the Sabbath, we are to keep it holy

Can Christians Drink Alcohol

Even one drink of wine impairs your thinking abilities. You are called to love God with all your mind--kind of hard to do that if you are killing the brain cells.

>the legalistic view from the SDA's.

You've assumed that SDA's keep the Sabbath in order to be saved. We follow the Laws of God because they were ordained by Him for life. We obey Him because we love Him for what He has done for us.

>the 10 Commandments is the Old Covenant -

Part of the OC, not the whole.

Jeremiah 31:33 But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel, After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts, and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

Days In The Creation

>Notice the sun, moon, and stars were not created until the 4th day?

Or, in order to have sunlight before the 4th day, the sun was here but now the earth is set in its orbit around the sun giving us the seasons, likewise the moon. The sun, the moon and the stars have been around for billions of years.

>The Sunday Sabbath from what we can surmise from the history of the church was a tradition started by the Apostles and their immediate successors since we find that the church outside of Jewish communities did not observe the Jewish Sabbath by the end of the first century.

Since most Christians, as least as late as the 5th century, kept the Sabbath, that scenario is wrong.

Church Does Not Need Tithe

>dconklin - Hebrews 7:1-10 is talking about tithes.

It does not say that.

Your other post about tithe to Lee was quite interesting!

>vs 16:Let no man therefore judge you in meat,or in drink,or in respect of an holy day,or of the new moon,or of the sabbath ....

The most ignored words in this cerse is "in respect of". The Greek (en emerei) literally means "in that part of".

Those who were judging the believers at Colossae were juding the eating and drinking that was taking place _on_ the days that are then mentioned.

The word "sabbaton" here refers to the Day of Atonement and the blowing of trumpets which were not days of feasting.

Grace Demands Greater Law

>thro we judge not those who observe new moons, festivals & the Sabbath,(Col. 2:16)

That verse doesn't say that. The verse is talking about ascetic Jews who were judging the believers about their eating and drinking on those days. The most ignored words in the passage are "in respect of" (GK: en merei, which literally means "in that part of").

I spent almost 3 years studying Col. 2:16-17. This can be found online by searching for "Significant Words and Grammatical Structure of Colossians 2:16-17."

Church Does Not Need Tithe

>Hebrews 7:12 tells us there is necessity in changing the law with the change of a priesthood.

Could refer to the sacrificial offerings.

Seventh Day Adventist Belief

We cannot love Jesus and not love our brethren. ... "As he is, so are we in this world." ... {YI, Jan. 6, 1898 par. 4}

Church Does Not Need Tithe

>What you quote is still under the OLD TESTAMENT. The New Testament doesn't begin until AFTER Jesus died on the cross.

That's a variant of the Marcion heresy which deprecates the value of the OT. I'm a whole Bible Christian. The OT is the Gospel concealed, the NT is the Gospel revealed. the book of Revelation has over 2500 echoes and allusions to the OT. So, if you don't know the OT you cannot understand the book.

Why Did God Give Us The Bible

>And such is Sabbath observance, it is not found in the New Covenant as a command or even a suggestion.

It's not required either. There was no question about keeping the Sabbath during the NT era. Most Christians at least as late as the 5th century kept the Sabbath.

Sabbath Breakers Going To Hell

>Sabbath Breakers Going To Hell

Not if they don't know that it is a sin to not keep the Sabbath. Most people are unaware of the need to keep the Sabbath.

Grace Demands Greater Law

>Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:

The three most misubderstood words in that verse are "in respect of." The ascetics were judging the believers for their eating and drinking _on_ the days that are then mentioned. It would be like someone judging you for eating a large meal at Sunday lunch. The issue then wouldn't be Sunday, but the lunch.
