Is Faith Needed For Salvation

Hi to you all yes faith is required in salvation, first what is faith ? faith is an unshakeable confidence in the yet unseen reality of the invisible world So faith means our movement towards God. faith in gods ability and plan for salvation.we can have faith in what the natural senses say our put our faith in the word of God we walk by faith and not by sight, nowhere in the bible has God asked us to rely on our natural sight, The holy Spirit was given for us to see what God is looking at .when you step into faith you operate in the dimension in which God operates . lee

Ways To Go To Heaven

Question if man was asked to leave the presence of God in the garden of Eden who inspired him ??? when Adam and Eve disobeyed God they gave satan legal right over them.so if man wasn't inspired by God he was inspired by satan OK so now we have to ask ourselves a question how can man approach God while being inspired by satan. remember, the first man Adam was flesh.so the first creation is on the cross and God recreated us,the day Jesus was resurrected,we were given a new body spiritual body remember God is Spirit and those that worship Him shall worship Him in Spirit and in truth, the natural man his knowledge is based on sense evidences and satan is the god of the senses the body Of sin. 2 Corin 5-7 an 1corin15

Is Salvation A Gift

CraigA //
It is a gift, but the man MUST repent.

Does scripture really state "that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord and repents, shall be saved."? Acts 2:21

I am not saying you are wrong, howbeit would like a scriptural reference.

It seems to me many of us have found Christ in our lives and after we are saved, the Spirit has enabled us to see what are sin really is and then to turn away from our ways to His.

Parts Of Bible Not Applicable

//The ONLY laws that do not apply are laws relating to blood sarifice and the earthly sanctuary.

That would eliminate adherence to the OT sabbath because that was the day in the earthy sanctuary that most blood sacrifice occurs.

Unfortunately, your guide is olde Ellen White, not the saints of His church.

It stands to reason if the Jewish Sabbath was to be observed, we would most certainly see it emphasized in the writings of the Apostles as well as those of their successors, but we do not.

Thus your viewpoint will remain a minority viewpoint because it is the most difficult to defend.

If Christ was the center of your denomination instead of the OT sabbath, then you would not have these problems.

Explain Matthew 5:17-18

//"Does Matthew 5:17-18 say that Jesus demands Christians follow Old Testament law completely to the smallest possible point?"

No.

I can only agree. Those that adovocate adherent to specific OT laws not mandated in the NT fail to understand that the audience Jesus was addressing was Jewish and that the Old Covenent would soon become obsolete.

If they had asked Jesus if they needed to be physically circumcised, Jesus would have sent them down to the Rabbi for that ordeal.

Obedience To God

frances - in quoting Mt. 5:17-18 you are maintaining the Jesus did NOT fulfill anything and the church is still under the Old Covenant dispensation - to laws not even mentioned in the New Covenant.

And your position rejects the decision made at the Jerusalem council that Gentile converts need not observe laws strictly Jewish such as circumcision, sabbath keeping, dietary law, etc..

While you demand obedience to certain OT laws, you dismember the law in insisting on obedience to the Jewish Sabbath, but reject obedience to God's explicit command to observe "the Passover, the Feasts of weeks, Unleavened Bread, Harvest, and Ingathering" (Exodus 23, 34).

You cannot pitch one stricly OT law and neglect the others.

The Feast Of Tabernacles

It is interesting that there are sabbaterians groups that advocate obedience to OT Jewish feasts even today believing that the Christian faith is nothing more than a continuation of Judaism.

Such was the problem the Worldwide Church of God under H. Armstrong until there was a new leadership.

Reformed Aventists groups today advocate observance of the OT feasts and some speculate that the current SDA denomination is leaning in that direction. See Proclamation magazine "Are Adventists Moving to Feast-Keeping" Sept/Oct 2008 issue.

Those of the flesh truly love love to be religious.

How Do You Stay Holy

All too often one would say he or she can stay holy by obedience to laws, however, Scripture tells us apart from abiding in Christ we really cannot be fruitful -

John 15:5 I am the vine, you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing.

If our focus is not on Christ but on ourselves, we cannot be holy.

I would suggest constant prayer & studying His word.

Can A Drunk Get Saved

//God came to save us FROM our sins, and not IN our sins.

Those who say this reject the doctrine of sanctification and spiritual growth. They seem to believe once a person believes & accepts Christ they become sinfree.

When a person becomes a true believer in Christ, that person is placed into the body of Christ. it is His righteousness that counts, not our own.

1 Cor. 1:30-31 30 He is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, whom God made our wisdom and our righteousness and sanctification and redemption.

Those that seek their own sanctification are of the flesh, and the flesh loves loves to be religious in observing dietary law, keeping the Sabbath and other rites not commanded of the church.

Who Are The Judaizers

frances - in quoting Mt. 5:17-18 you are maintaining the Jesus did NOT fulfill anything and the church is still under the Old Covenant dispensation - to laws not even mentioned in the New Covenant.

God Will Bring My Wife To Me

We may all be wrong with our answers. Here are the facts, believe it or not. What about all the previous christians who waited on God to find a mate for them.Sure they found a Godly mate.5 years later they are divorce, just like the secular world.Well what happened, because 52 % of christians divorce just like the non christians. The real problem is with us and them.Humans are the most selfish things on the planet. We want all our needs catered to and if not ,well we'll just find someone else who can then.Maybe we should take lessons from the lesser species, (animals) who mate for life, like the dove etc.Maybe we are too selfish to deserve a mate. The whole truth!

Is The Death Penalty A Sin

Cluny - // is there really any earthly government that is righteous enough to impose the death penalty,

Clearly not! Just yesterday a man here in the USA was release from prison after spending 35 years there. Again DNA was the tool that proved that man innocent. He joins hundreds of others that have been proven innocent and released from prison.

In short, the system is very far from perfect with prosecutors determining to win cases against the accursed and often without considering all the facts involved.

The death penalty should be imposed only on serial murderers and that with complete and very substantial evidence.

How Long Is Last Generation

Eloy -//You need discernment:

Your position or interpretation that you are without sin is totally contrary to what the church has taught for the past 20 centuries.

If you were to study the lives of the most saintly people in the Christian church you would easily see that. Thus I reject your contention.

Addressed to Christians, John states -

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 1 John 1:8

The word 'have' is present tense.

How Did God Make Life

Exodus 12:1-2 The LORD said to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt,"This month shall be for you the beginning of months. It shall be the first month of the year for you".

According to this verse, the Jewish calendar started with Moses and there is no reason to believe it reflected anything the Egyptians or other tribes possesses.

So we can reasonably believe that the Sabbath also started with Moses since we can find nothing about its observance prior to his time.

As to the 6 literal day thing, the record simply does not support that view.

Is Christmas Birth Of Jesus

Cluny -**Can you provide any concrete examples to substantiate your claim? If so, will you?

I already have but apparently you are too afraid of the truth to view the reference I gave you.

And yes, I agree with you that many of the pagan dieties merely got a name change and a facelift.

But that is religion for you, isn't it? So go genuflect on that one, I really could care less.

Signs Of A False Prophet

Abraham was a friend of God not because he observed the law but because he believed. It was his faith that God had in view.

Jas 2:23 and the Scripture was fulfilled that says, Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousnessand he was called a friend of God.

The law that Abraham observed was the natural law of his conscience. As he walked with God, his conscience became a reliable guide.

How To Speak In Tongues

While the Holy Spirit gives gifts for the edification of the church, I would tell him that he should focus on asking whatever would accomplish that and leave it to the Lord.

Signs Of A False Prophet

I am surprised that there are still those out there that want to preach what we may eat or drink, what days we are to observe or not observe, how we pray, etc. etc. etc. in accordance to laws given in the Old Covenant to the Jewish nation alone.

Of course, it is human vanity for one to be viewed as 'religious' much like the show the Pharisees put on for themselves to be seen of others. Is not the root cause simply one of pride in ones own sense of righteousness?

The Council Of Trent

Ignatius - in this day and age, it has been very common for many to switch from one denomination to another. But such is the story with those who are centered not on Christ but on denominations. The door are swinging both ways.

Frankly Schaffer was more of a religious philosophy than a Spirit led Christian. I have read some of his works and considered them more of a waste of time than anything else.
