I asked you the question, because I didn't know where you stood on the issue. Thanks for answering. I thought Trump was the worst possible choice, but I was willing to accept him as president, but so many things that he has done have demonstrated that he is neither capable of the office, nor worthy of it. He swore to uphold and defend the Constitution, yet so many things he has said demonstrate that he either doesn't know what it says, or knows but doesn't care - both of which put him in violation of his oath of office. If God put Trump in office, he put the Constitution in power over him as well.

Trump got a restraining order to stop Mary's book. He claims to be "the most transparent president ever", yet is constantly trying to hide, suppress, and bury truth at every opportunity. He claims every conversation is privileged, forbids people from testifying, forbids transcripts from being released, refuses to allow translators in meetings with Putin to keep notes, and sues to prevent books from being published.

Jesus said, "I am the Truth", but that is the antithesis of Trump.

ven:

When Obama was president, did YOU accept him as God's Chosen? Most Evangelicals who claim Trump is God's Chosen also decried Obama as the devil, showing their hypocrisy in this area.

This administration botched the this crisis from day one. After initial spike, Europe's numbers tapered off and are now low, while U.S. numbers remain high. Death toll is now at 1/4 of the world's, 5x what population would expect.

Trump's answer? Our numbers are bad! Let's NOT TEST PEOPLE. If I throw out the scales, I'll stop getting fat! This is an ostrich putting its head in the sand to avoid truth.

He is cutting funding for testing. His administration petitioned SC to invalidate Obamacare, depriving 20 MILLION Americans of health care. He INSISTS his rally goers NOT wear masks. IN A PANDEMIC.

This man and his administration are clear and present dangers to the health of every person in this country.

Based on the the claims of anti-maskers, what we are seeing a lot of today is Schroedinger's Mask: a mask that is simultaneously too thin to stop any disease particles from going in and out, making it ineffective at disease containment, yet at the same time thick enough that it keeps oxygen out, and carbon dioxide in, making it difficult to breathe.

Steveng is an anti-vaxxer, and believes all vaccinations are inherently evil, and being vaccinated is on a similar order as taking the Mark of the Beast. (I might be exaggerating a little, but not much).

In the past weeks, we have seen a new trend - anti-maskers who refuse to wear face masks, and say forcing people to wear masks is endangering people's lives (i.e. "I can't breathe!") and taking away their freedoms.

Curiously, there is a large overlap between the anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers. Both short-sightedly (and selfishly) place their own freedom above the safety of others, which they endanger by taking actions that make them more likely to be disease spreaders.

No, I don't believe that at all. Today, snakes crawl on the ground because they have no legs, yet their skeletons have vestigial legs. Their DNA includes instructions to make legs, but it has been suppressed, implying their ancestors did have legs at some point.

We DON'T see pictures of Satan, with horns and barbed tail, crawling on his belly. The "serpent" punished in Genesis was an actual snake, not Satan. Also, in Job, which must have occurred after Genesis (despite of when it was written), Satan was "walking about", so he didn't lose his legs.

Balaam's ass spoke to Balaam, but was not Satan. The Serpent spoke to Adam, but was not Satan either.

Translators deduce what words mean by comparing their uses in various contexts. However, if used seldom, or just once (Hapax Legomenon), it's a lot harder. This is why names of uncommon creatures in the Bible are often rendered in many different ways by different authors.

Translators guessed at behemoth, calling it elephant, hippopotamus, rhinoceros, or buffalo. In Hebrew, "behemoth" occurs once, in Job 40:15. It is the plural of common word "behemah" that means beast, animal, cattle.

Hippotamus was only "discovered" by Henry (and Americas by Columbus) if you discount the knowledge of all non-Europeans. NT precedes KJV by almost 16 centuries, and OT by more than that.

Job uses "Satan". Scholars believe Job was written earlier than other Bible books.

Why would God give Adam a test he KNEW Adam would fail, and blame him for it?

kathr4453:

2 Co 11:3 says the same as Genesis. "serpent", not "Satan" or "Devil".

Rev 12:9 says "the great dragon", "that old serpent", "the Devil", "Satan" but doesn't necessarily mean this serpent is the Genesis one.

Genesis says the serpent was punished by being forced to crawl on the earth - which applies to biological snakes. If "serpent" was just a metaphor for "Satan", that would not be the case.

Again, either Jonah told Nineveh what God told him to say, or he said something God did NOT tell him to say.

1) If Jonah accurately repeated what God told him, then God lied to Jonah by telling him Nineveh would be destroyed, when he clearly knew that he would not destroy it.

2) If Jonah did NOT repeat what God told him, but told Nineveh something different, Jonah was a false prophet, and his book should be ripped out of the bible and burned, nad he should have been stoned to death.

Which of the above two possibilities do you favor, or can you see a third one that fits the facts?

Steveng:

A better question is, would you take it if were VOLUNTARY?

Vaccines are proven to dramatically lower incidence of infections. Cemetaries were full of tombstones to children who died from polio, and many were left in iron lungs for life. Then with the discovery of the vaccine, it was wiped out almost over night. Now, 60 years later, it is making a come back. Anti-vaxxers are refusing sound science, and once-extinct diseases like polio and the measles are coming back, killing their children, and others' children too as collateral damage.

But I know you're an anti-vaxxer, so you will continue to believe whatever fits your paranoid preconceptions.

Matthew 5:18: Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled.

Anyone who relates to God under the Old Covenant is obliged to keep the Law. Jesus gave us a new covenant based on grace. Anyone who wants relates to God under that convenant is NOT obliged to keep the Law.

The Old Convenant is still there. (God would be a covenant-breaker by unilaterally cancelling it). It just doesn't apply to us. It DID apply to Jesus, as he was born and circumcized a Jew.

James 2:10: For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

I.e. breaking the Sabbath is legally no different from murder.

kathr4453:

The corruptor in Eden was the Serpent, not Satan. Satan isn't even mentioned by name until Job (14 times), 1 Chronicles (once), Psalms (once) and Zehariah (twice).

What bothers me is why SHOULD Eve have rejected being tempted? She was innocent. She had never heard a lie before. She had never been tempted before. How was she expected to KNOW she SHOULD resist temptation, or that temptation was evil? That knowledge was in the Fruit WHICH SHE HADN'T EATEN YET.

Ask yourself this. Do you remember the very first time in your life you heard a lie? If so, did you believe it? If so, why? How did it make you feel when you discovered the truth? I remember, and I felt a tremendous feeling of anger and betrayal.

You wrote: Since I know God does not change my answer to the problem is that God said what He said to cause Nineveh to repent.

So you are saying that God deliberately lied to Jonah (i.e. told him something He knew was not true)?

How does that comport with "God is not like a man, that he should lie"?

David:

I find this curious. So which laws WAS Jesus subject to? Was he subject to the Law of Murder, or was he free to murder whomever he pleased?

Either Jesus was subject to the Law, or he was not.
1) If he WAS subject to the Law, your assertion that "Jesus was not subject to the Law of the Sabbath" is incorrect.
2) If he was NOT subject to the Law, then the whole point of him being sinless is meaningless - i.e. you can't break the law if no laws apply to you. Jesus was supposed to have lived a perfect life, to show us that we have no excuse, but that is meaningless if he wasn't subject to the same restrictions that we are.

Jesus fulfilled the law, so that we don't have to.

You wrote: david is cluny is LAWLESS he even says that christ committed sin bec. christ broke the 4th commandment.

I'm curious what you meant by that? What does Cluny have to do with any of this? Are you trying to say that david and Cluny are the same person? (They're not). Cluny hasn't even been on these blogs since Feb. 1. (He moved then, and his computer is still in storage). I'm pretty sure he never said that Christ was lawless, or that he broke the 4th commandment.

Thank you.

My point had nothing to do with what the people of Nineveh believed or did, but solely with what God said, and what he did.
1) If God KNEW IN ADVANCE that he would not destroy Nineveh, then he LIED to Jonah when he said he would destroy Nineveh without giving any conditions (e.g. "unless they repent").
2) If God did, in fact, purpose to destroy Nineveh, but later did not do so, then he changed his mind.

So which is it?

Samuelbb7:

Keeping 10C may or may not be a dead work, depending on WHY you keep them.

If you keep them out of consideration from others, or because you find the idea of breaking them abhorrent, it's because you love your neighbor as yourself, as Jesus commanded.

But if you keep them because the Bible says so, or because killing and stealing will send you to jail, or because they will send you to hell, THEN they are just dead works.

Atheist Penn Gilette said someone asked him "If you don't believe in God, what's to stop you from killing as much as you want?", and he replied, "I *DO* kill as often as I want - and the amount I want is zero."

Maybe Eve said something God DID say, just wasn't recorded. How likely is it that God spoke only two sentences to Adam in his whole life (i.e. name animals, eat anything except two fruit)?

The Bible typically only records things that are important, and omits most things that aren't, and the same goes with people, especially women (rarely mentioned, unless important to the story). Adam and Eve had no recorded daughters, yet their sons found wives somewhere. ALL patriarchs (Abraham, Isaac, Jacob) and everyone mentioned in genealogies had only sons. Jacob's children mention only 12 sons - and one daughter, important to the story because her rape stared a war.

Either Jonah told Nineveh what God told him to say, or he did not. There are two possibilities:

1) Jonah told Nineveh what God told him to say. I.e. that Nineveh would be destroyed, no conditions, no "unless you repent".

2) Jonah told Nineveh something different than what God told him to say. The Old Testament calls people who do this "false prophets", and that we should not fear them, and that they should be stoned to death.

Since the Book of Jonah is included in scripture, rather than being burned as heresy, I'm inclined to go with 1.

Also, Nineveh could have just cursed God instead of repenting (which happens to people in Revelation). So they CHOSE to repent.
