Is The Bible God's Words

You wrote: 2 Timothy 3:16 ...

That gives one of the properties of scripture, but doesn't actually define scripture. For example, if someone asked you whether or not the book of Ecclesiasticus is scripture (Catholics and Orthodox say it is, Protestants say it isn't), Timothy would not be helpful in answering that question.

Very good point! Just the other day, I found out that Daniel 11:38 talks about the Fourth Beast worshiping "the god of forces" (KJV), but other translations say "god of fortresses", which matches the Hebrew.

You wrote: Strongaxe, If he's going to continue to diagnose others, he shouldn't whine like a little girl when the diagnosis is returned.

Even if correct, the fact that someone else does something wrong to you does not make it right for you to return the same kind of wrong behavior to them.

Just like TRUMP. EXACTLY LIKE TRUMP. No one minds diagnosing Trump now do they?

Professional psychologists and psychiatrists have done that. I don't believe either you or I qualify in that regard. I'm also pretty sure you're not qualified to determine what kinds of fluids are inside someone's brain based solely on their writings. Such a diagnosis is not a medical opinion. It is pure spite.

Is The Bible God's Words

Every translation is necessarily influenced by translator bias, as there is generally no exact one-to-one correspondence between words in one language and another.

In heavily inflected languages, words carry additional metadata (e.g. number, gender, case, etc.) that are lost in uninflected languages like English. For example, in English, "you" can mean one man, one woman, multiple men, or multiple women. In Hebrew, each of these is a different word.

Also, many words have nuances that don't translate well. E.g. in Hebrew, dogs are considered unclean, so calling someone a dog is calling them unclean, which is lost in English.

Bias becomes problematic when it's deliberately introduced (e.g. in the NWT).

You wrote: Actually, Hobson's choice means "no choice at all."

When one has two choices, e.g.
1) throwing your criminal accomplices under the bus, which will damage your party, and ruin your chances of reelection, or
2) throwing your integrity under the bus, which will temporarily save your behind, but when your voters see how dishonest you are, they won't re-elect you,

then since both choices have the same result, it's no choice at all. You will be lose your office either way. The only choice is, will you lose your integrity and your soul too? A fair number crossed that bridge long ago anyway, so it really is no choice at all.

You wrote: one CANNOT say the Holy Spirit EKPROEIVETE from the Father and the Son without falling into the ancient heresy of Sabellian Modalism, now called "oneness" or mistakenly "apostolic faith."

Again, this is choking on a gnat, because this is a hair so small that the ONLY people who are even able to see it without a microscope are theologians. It has NO EFFECT on how most people live their lives.

Would a person who believes one way feed the poor, while one who believes the other not? Would a person who believes one way lie, while one who believes the other not? THESE are the kinds of things Jesus taught about. How, specifically, does it affect how YOU live?

You wrote: Again Cluny falsely diagnosing others misrepresenting their posts.

If you don't want others to falsely diagnose you, you should refrain from falsely diagnosing them (e.g. by talking about what they may have in their brain, or what they sit around in).

"Do unto others as they do unto you" is reactive, and lets them set the agenda. You lower yourself to their level.

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you" is proactive, and lets YOU set the agenda. You raise them up to your level. This is literally the Golden Rule.

Based on Intelligence Committee 300-page report, there are ample grounds to impeach. Pelosi will call for a vote. As Democrats have a House majority, Republicans won't be able to block it. There are still two other committees.

Senate Republicans have a Hobson's choice - put country over party, convict based on evidence, and damage their party's strength, or ignore evidence, acquit, and further damage their party's integrity. Their voter base will remember in November. McConnell's popularity is now only 18%!

Even acquittal is damaging - time wasted on Clinton's trial damaged the effectiveness of half his presidency. Watergate also ruined Nixon's presidency. He was so afraid he resigned even before an impeachment vote.

Salvation In The Church

You wrote: Orthodoxy IS the original Church

The original Church had no specific name, It split in half over a single word (filoque) in a doctrine so minor and esoteric, most people don't understand it or why it should be important. That word's presence or absence haz zero effect Christians live. Yet theologicans choked so hard on this gnat, they divided Christ for a millenium. Both sides insist THEY are the original and the other side is wrong.

Self-important theologicans divide Christ - cultic leaders who "discover" some new doctrine that is unimportant or leads to apostasy, or believers who leave a church that teaches abostasy but whose theologians refuse to recognize this.

The Bible says God appoints the powers that be, which is where "Divine Right of Kings" came from. Kings believed the fact they were kings meant that God put them there, implying that they somehow had God's favor.

Even though God put David and Solomon into power, he also did the same for Pharaoh, Nebudchadnezzar, and all the other kinds of Israel and Judah, who with those two exceptions were all wicked kings. If God put Trump into power to be president, he also put Pelosi in power to impeach him. He also put Obama into power (so why did conservatives rage against God's anointed THEN?). And he also put Hitler, Stalin, Mao, and Pol Pot into power. Sometimes God puts people in power because he ran out of locusts.

You wrote: I will fight fire with fire ...

But that isn't how Jesus taught us to interact. He didn't say reactive "Do unto others as they HAVE DONE unto you". He said pro-active "Do unto others AS YOU WOULD HAVE THEM do unto you" (Luke 6:31). He didn't say "if someone strikes you, strike them back". He said "If someone strikes you, turn the other cheek, so they can strike you again" (Matthew 5:39, Luke 6:29). He didn't say "Hate your enemies". He said "Love your enemies" (Luke 6:27) and "If your enemy hungers or thirsts, give him food or drink - that way you heap coals of fire on his head" (Romans 12:20).

All of Luke 6 is good.

Salvation In The Church

The church should be free of racism, sexism, and classism:

Romans 10:12
For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him.

Galatians 3:28
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Colossians 3:11
Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.

Building Of The Ark

None of us has perfect grammar, spelling, or punctuation. Sccasional mistakes do not prove one's arguments invalid.

This also applies to scripture. Hebrew scriptures have 7 DIFFERENT spellings of Nebuchadnezzer. One replaces the second N by R (I looked it up once during an argument with Eloy, who claimed it added up to 666 - ridiculous, as each spelling adds up to a different number, and none = 666).

I lost respect for Bertrand Russell after reading "Why I am Not a Christian". He, allegedly the greatest logician of the 20th century, said he didn't believe in God because Christians led imperfect lifestyles. This was like saying "I don't believe in Relativity because Einstein had messy hair".

You wrote: Again Cluny, you have urine on the brain......

Regardless of what Cluny may or may not have done, is it REALLY necessary to stoop to such a level of insults?

Would you like it if other people used such language to you? If not, you shouldn't use such language to them.

(I also couldn't find any "nasty attacks", at least not in this blog, unless you consider the honest question "What studies have you made that lead you to this conclusion?" an "attack").

How To Get God's Wisdom

I wasn't saying that there was anything wrong with reving dead blogs. It's just that when one does so, it's unlikely that most of the people who had been commenting earlier are even still on the site anymore, especially the person who asked the original question starting the blog. The result will usually be more like starting a brand new conversation, rather than entering an already-going lively one, and one should be prepared for that.

Support President Trump

No, I don't. After the election, I sincerely hoped he would be a good president and abandon his childish pre-election histrionics. Unfortunately, that was naively unrealistic. I want him to succeed at things he promised - like improving the economy, giving everyone better health care, preserving Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security, etc. Sadly, Trump's own actions are breaking all of these promises. How can I wish for him to succeed at something HE HIMSELF is working against?

I DO want him to FAIL at all the things he does that are criminal and un-American, and hopefully all Americans would also want him to fail at these things.

When did I ever say anything about him and Afghanistan? You projecting again?

How To Get God's Wisdom

I have noticed that you have been commenting a lot on various blogs recently. Most of these blogs were started many years ago, and have been idle for years, and many of the people who used to comment on them are no longer active on this site. When commenting on a blog that you haven't been on before, it's often a good idea to check the dates on the most recent comments, to see whether this is an active discussion, or one that has been dead for years. There's nothing wrong with commenting on an old blog, but you're less likely to see continuing discussion if you do, especially from the people you are replying to.

I know what we are talking about, but again, how would my watching Rocky again change my understanding that Trump's tweeting his head on Rocky's body was tacky and inappropriate? Yes, I know Rocky was a fighter who overcame great odds to become the champion. That does not describe Trump.

Rocky started from nothing. Trump was born in privilege and money, and despite inheriting a million dollars, he lost a BILLION in the 90s (at least that's what he told the IRS).

Besides, Rocky was victorious over a Russian. Trump, on the other hand, is friendly with Russians. In 2008, his sons said most of their money comes from there.

Support False Teachers
There are some people whose teachings are so blatantly unbiblical, it doesn't take an expert to discern them, as their own words condemn them. E.g. Jesus said "Deny yourself, take up your cross and follow me", while Paula White said, "Anyone who tells you to deny yourself is from Satan". It doesn't take an apostle or a rocket scientist to realize this is false teaching. One doesn't need to know anything else about what she says or does to reach the obvious conclusion.

It IS possible for Christians to follow false teachers and still be saved, but his life might be wasted as a result:

1 Corinthians 3:15
If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved, yet so as by fire.
