Should We Be Baptized

Since Paul makes it clear that there is only one baptism in Eph 4:5, why is there such a debate over baptism?
If Paul says there is only one then it must be the one baptism Paul teaches. found in 12:13 and Romans 6:3.
It is dry and performed by the Spirit baptizing you into Christ. This is the baptism that saves you. It is not water baptism of any kind.

Possessed With A Demon

//Prayer For Reconcilation
I am grieved by how haz(Cluny) and kathr are treating each other on these blogs..
I'm praying that they be reconciled and freed of their burden of mutual hatred..
All who have started doing so join me in this intention.//

Should We Be Baptized

//BTW--how much modern US history did you learn from the Bible?//
The same amount of salvation you learned from US history

Should We Be Baptized

//You don't actually think the NT is all there is to church history, do you?//
I actually believe that the Bible is the final authority.
Choose now to trust your Bible as Gods word completely. It will help your Bible study tremendously. The first line of defense against Bible confusion is to trust Gods word to be without mistake. Let men make the mistakes.

Should We Be Baptized

//Because baptism was normally done by the local presbyters.//
BCV for this explanation please

Should We Be Baptized

Paul explains why, Baptism is Jewish, and Paul was a Hebrew of the Hebrews (Phil 3:5).
Paul was sent to minister to Jews also, and he became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews, to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law (1 Cor 9:20).
There are many reasons why Paul would baptize, but the important question concerning water baptism is why Paul stopped baptizing?
Paul says, I thank God I baptized none of you , save a few, and For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel (1 Cor 1:17).
When Paul says Christ sent me not to baptize, he is confessing he was not following Matt 28 or Mark 16 in his ministry, nor was he baptizing under the same command given to Peter.

Should We Be Baptized

No one preaching water baptism understood the preaching of the cross. Wherever the baptism gospel is presented it is presented for remission (forgiveness) of sins.
But Paul taught the cross of Christ for forgiveness of sins. Water baptism had been supplanted by something greater.
At one time the gospel of a kingdom and remission of sins was intimately tied to water baptism. That is, until Paul.
No wonder that there are so many confusions about water baptism when people fail to recognize the special revelation given to Paul from the Lord.
It was first known by Paul that water baptism was not required and was separate from the true forgiveness of sins which is through Christs blood (Eph 1:7).

Should We Be Baptized

Nobody need drown in water to be in Christ, and neither was there water at the cross, nor Rom 6. Paul isn't talking about Jesus water baptism here, he's talking about Jesus baptism unto death.
When believers are baptized by the Spirit into the boC (1 Cor 12:13), we are baptized into the death of Christ.
His death, becomes ours (Rom 6:6) His resurrection, becomes ours (Rom 6:8). Without this baptism into the Lords death, we are still in our sins. This is the baptism necessary for salvation
The Lords water baptism doesn't accomplish anything for us regarding righteousness or salvation. If we are to follow the Lord, we must follow Him in his second baptism, as the Spirit baptizes us into Christs death to be saved by Gods grace.

Should We Be Baptized

There are different baptisms in the Bible most dry.
John the Baptist clearly baptized with water (John 1:31, Mark 1:5).
Matt 3:11 identifies two other baptisms.
A Spirit isn't water, and baptism with fire evaporates moisture.(Isa 4:4: Mal 3:2).
The baptism of Israel unto Moses (1 Cor 10:2) They walked on dry ground and Egyptians drowned.
Baptism has become synonymous with water baptism, but baptism doesn't mean water. A better definition is someone is identified with something.
That's why Paul describes a baptism into the boC (1 Cor 12:13. Rom 6:3 Gal 2:20).
Baptism with water symbolized cleansing not death, as in the remission of sins (Mark 1:4). Today our sins are forgiven through the blood of Christ through his death.

Should We Be Baptized

There is only one baptism Paul says is necessary in the church, and it doesn't include water or a priest to perform it. It's by the operation of God when we believe the gospel of the death and resurrection of Christ (Eph 4:5).
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead. Col 2:12
If you think baptism must always include water, then you are a little wet behind the ears.
There are many examples of baptism in the Bible, the one baptism you need does not require a single drop.

Does God Have Faith

The Lord Jesus Christ didn't need faith in God. He is God
Faith is what men possess when they hear the word of truth and believe it (Rom 10:17). Faith isn't needed by the man who is the Truth (John 14:6).
Men must have faith in the truth, but Christ was the truth.
Before men hear the truth and believe it, they don't have faith, and don't know the truth.
When people require Christ to have faith (faith and faithfulness are not the same) they are diminishing the truth found in Christ.
There was never a time when Jesus was not full of truth (John 1:14). Truth came by Jesus not to him like it did other men (John 1:17).
Christ didn't need faith. Christ is the object of faith (John 14:1).

What Is The Gospel

//Then you will understand, Philippians 3:18- 21. RE THE CROSS.//
I also Know that the boC doesn't have 12 tribes

What Is The Gospel

//Paul states in Ephesians that the wall between Jew and Gentile is broken down because of the cross, making IN HIM , that is Christ, one NEW man, neither Jew or Gentile.//
Which is the boC.
Born again first mentioned by Jesus to the circumcision (John 3:3) Israel, had been Gods people for centuries.
They were born unto God when they were delivered from Egypt as Gods nation. Their covenant with God proved they were Gods people.(Ex 4:22)
Years of breaking the covenant with God, Israel wasn't ready to enter their covenanted kingdom. Being born a Jew in the flesh wasn't enough: (Matt 3:9)
Israel needed to be born a second time with the Spirit to fulfill their covenants.(Ezek 36:24-28)

What Is The Gospel

Peters message at Pentecost to Israel was basically repeating Johns preaching of baptism, and Jesus kingdom gospel, but where's the cross? (Acts 3:14-15)
Peter preaches the death of Christ, condemns Israel for killing Christ and doesn't preach the cross as glory (Acts 5:28, Acts 10:39). Killing their Messiah isn't preaching the cross as good news.
In Pauls ministry there's something interesting about who preached the gospel first.(1 Cor 15:3)
Paul last to see the Lord, apparently, was first to preach the gospel of salvation as glory of the cross (Gal 6:14, 1 Cor 1:18).
Paul being first to preach the gospel, it's reasonable the church should follow Paul's pattern for preaching the gospel of Christ.(1 Tim 1:16

What Is The Gospel

Kathr, would have you believe the scripture is wrong and she is right.
Kathr would have you believe during Christs earthly ministry the 12 preached a gospel they didn't understand.
Kathr would have you believe the predominately Jewish Jerusalem church was not the church persecuted by Paul.
Kathr would have you believe the predominately Gentile church at Antioch and the Jerusalem church were one and the same.
Wrong on many counts

What Is The Gospel

Kathr would have you believe that the church at Jerusalem headed by the 12, primarily jewish, persecuted by Paul,
Acts 8:1 "..And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem"
is the same church primarily gentile headed up by Paul.
Acts 13:1 "Now there were in the church that was at Antioch ..."

What Is The Gospel

One last time, Jesus had an ministry on earth. He picked 12 disciples.
As Christ had not died and ascended, Paul's gospel was not available, so what did they preach?

What Is The Gospel

How many times??
Again, The twelve disciples did not understand the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ while they were preaching the Kingdom gospel.
The twelve couldn't preach Paul's gospel, as Christ had not yet died.

What Is The Gospel

//The Apostles understood the Gospel.//
Luke 18:34 "And they understood none of these things:.."
Again, The twelve disciples did not understand the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ while they were preaching the Kingdom gospel.
The twelve couldn't preach Paul's gospel, as Christ had not yet died.
