How To Get Saved

Nicole
Many Christians define Faith as a mere exercise in mental acuity, where the entirety of Christs teachings can be summed up by quoting (John 3:16). I define faith, the faith which causes us to Grow in Gods Grace, as an action taken because we believe in Gods promises, the covenants he has made with man throughout time.

Jesus makes a promise in (John 14:21) and again in (John 14:23). There he teaches the fundamentals of how we Grow in Gods Grace. His promise simply states, If we do, what he commands us to do, God will love us. His Father, who chooses who will be saved, and who will not be saved.

We are not promised instant salvation, we are only promised that God the Father will love us and a hope for our salvation.

But I wonder how many people are resting their salvation in their own act of faith?---Cluny

I guess, that is because of the many doctrines from which we have to choose, many are confused as to the difference between the Works of the Law and Good works.

Works under the Law of Christ, is simply doing that which is written on our heart. (Romans 2:15)

At first, the Law written in our hearts is much like the Law God had written on stone, but through keeping this Law, we are taught how to Love, Love like Jesus loved. (Ezekiel 36:26)

And when the Law is kept out of Love, when it is no longer kept as the Law is kept. These are the works which are pleasing to God, and cause us to grow in his Grace.

Thank you all for your answers. And Nicole, it warmed my heart to see you back.

Cluny
An act of faith does not save you, it simply brings you closer to God, brings you into a loving relationship with God, a relationship, which can save you.

How will we know a command from the Lord?
The Lord will command you, through your heart. Lets say you see someone in need. If you ignore their needs, and just go on your way, and guilt sets in, Gods command was for you to help them.

If you Obey the command, the guilt is replaced with joy and you are blessed by being credited with righteousness, which brings with it, many rewards. If you continue to ignore the command, the guilt remains and you missed out on a valuable opportunity.

The following instruction is for those who seek the Lord, but have failed to find what they were seeking through a man made doctrines. The only way you will know if what I say is true, is to try it! This is my experience with the Lord, and experience with a loving God I want you to have too.

First, get into the habit of a daily confession of sin, praying as the Lord taught in (Matthew 6:9-13). Second, Do what you are guided to do, or not do, by Gods Holy Spirit.

Why is Confession of sin so important? Confession of sin restores the light of God and awakens the conscience. The Lord will guide you by using your conscience, the conscience which feels guilt, when we are disobedient to God. Conscience...Study it in the New Testament.

Works do not save you...Grace does!! So what do we gain by our Works, our works being the keeping of the Lords commands?
Grace, is what we receive through our works. (John 14:21)
He that hath My commandments and keeps them, he it is that loves Me, and he that loves Me shall be loved by My Father

A Crystal clear teaching, when not viewed through a man made doctrine.

Paul taught the same in (Ephesians 2:8)
For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.

Now since James taught Faith without works is Dead, the Grace we receive through Faith...must be a faith shown by our works.

Aaron The High Priest

Cluny
The way I see it.
God created the Priest, and I dont find it necessary to use a dictionary, to define what God clearly defined in the Bible.

Too many people rely on dictionaries, not understanding the word is not Necessarily what the word actually meant, when first introduced, but how we have come to use it.

Many words, relating to religion, are used differently today than they were in the Bible. And the dictionary merely reflects how the church may use those words today. A word with one definition, written in the early 1900s, may have 5-10 definitions today.

It appears Cluny needs his depends changed again. Diaper rash really makes him irritable. So sorry Cluny.---kathr4453 on 9/28/19

Kathryn, do you know if Cluny wears Depends? If he does, is a medical condition something to joke about?
Appalling....simply Appalling!!

Aaron The High Priest

Did you know that the English word "priest" comes from the Greek word PRESBYTEROS or elder?---Cluny

Never really thought about it. Why would someone use a modern Greek language, to translate a word, that obviously originated from an ancient Hebrew language?

Faith Without Works Dead

Not according to Jesus Christ. But if you can find the right Church to attend, you can be saved right up till judgement day.

David I said YES, and I showed you why you are still in bondage to sin. ---kathr4453

Kathryn
Two questions...since you answered, Yes. According to the Son of God, the Author of Salvation, Does the Slave inherit the kingdom of God? Yes or No?

(John 8:34-35) Jesus replied, Very truly I tell you, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. 35Now a slave has no permanent place in the family, but a son belongs to it forever.

Last question, Which is more important to Salvation, the Word of Jesus Christ or the word of man?

Aaron The High Priest

Does that mean He's the only one?---Cluny

Scripturally? Yes
The key word is, Priesthood. The Levite Priests were a Priesthood.
As the High Priest, Jesus Christ is not compared to the High Priest of the Levite Priesthood, but to Melchizedek, a High Priest with no descendants. (Hebrews 7:6) Why is it important for the writer to tell us Melchizedek had no descendants? It is because The Levite Priesthood had descendants, the descendants, made it a Priesthood.

As to your original Question about Aaron. I really don't have a definitive answer, but my guess would be, God was keeping a promise he made to Moses regarding Aaron.(Exodus 7:1)

David, I answered your question more than 20 times.---kathr4453

My question Kathryn?
I gave you a, yes or no question. You never said yes or no so No, you did not answer my question. I made it that type of question to keep you from...well I let Jesus tell you.

How can both be true?---chria9396

Chiria
They cant, and that is why I asked the question. A wise man here on CN, once wisely pointed out, the Ten Commandments are not the Law of Moses. These commandments have existed since the beginning. Adam and Eve committed the first sin. How could Adam and Eve sin without the Law, in respect to what is taught in (1 John 3:4)?
Everyone who sins, breaks the law

Works Of The Law

Yes, it is a work, but it is NOT a "work of the Law", Works of the Law are things like "Do not kill", "Do not steal", "Do not blend cotton and wool", "Honor your father and mother", All of these things are well and nice, but don't justify you,---StrongAxe

StrongAxe
Blend Cotton and Wool... LOL. But Jesus didnt give that as a commandment in (Matthew 19:18-19). And as to your other statement, I have an easy Question. According to Paul in (Romans 2:13), is it the hearers or the doers of the Law, who shall be justified?

(Romans 2:13) For it is not the hearers of the law who are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.

Everyone noticed you avoided answering the simple Yes or No question I gave you. And I suspect, everyone knows why too.

Works Of The Law

David, are you aware that "confessing with your mouth" is itself a work? ---Cluny

Absolutely! Remember, I am a teacher of works, as was our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus taught those who keep his commandments, (Not referring to the Law of Moses), gain the favor of God. (John 14:21)

To be honest, Today, Jesus would not be allowed to teach what he taught in the Gospel. They would scold him with what they believe Paul taught. Just as they do to me.

You make all these false claims about me, and anyone who dares to disagree with your Truth. Lets settle this once and for all using the Truth.

The easiest way to expose a lie. Is to hold it up to the Truth. With that said, In (John 8:34) Jesus said, Everyone who sins, is a slave of sin.
According to your doctrine, Is this true? Yes or No?

Works Of The Law

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. This is pretty clear---StrongAxe

So now you do believe you must do something to be saved. Congratulations!! Now if you can just convince Kathryn.

For the last time, YOU TELL what Church you are affiliated with, so others can research YOUR doctrine. If it's YOURS alone, of private interpretation....it's false.- Kath
Kathryn
And For the last time, No, I am not affiliated with any organized doctrine which are represented here on CN. My doctrine is founded upon the Gospel of Christ, taught to me through Gods Holy Spirit.

StrongAxe
Protestant believers are taught, If you accept Jesus as Lord and Savior, You are saved!!!, and therefore, God the Father must accept you as a Son.
The Truth is, we must be adopted as Sons, and this is a decision God alone makes. (John 8:34-35) & (Ephesians 1:4-5)
