God Out Of My Husband

Alan, that was one of the sweetest things anyone has ever said to me concerning her death- thank you. Even though it has been 19 years, I still grieve for her sometimes. I never had any children, but she only knew my first two nieces and nephews- now we have 8 altogether. I miss her so much every time one of them has a milestone in thier life, wishing she could have known them and watched them grow up. We tell them stories all the time about her, AND my dad, who died 2 yrs after her.

pt 3: That is the most horrible thing you can say to grieving people, it doesn't help at ALL, and only adds to the confusion their going through at the moment! There. That's my 2 cents worth! So sorry for your loss Alan my friend

God Out Of My Husband

pt 2: When I lost my precious mother to cancer when I was only 22, the people who gave me the most comfort at her funeral were the ones who said NOTHING, just cried with me and held me. I was apalled at the people from our church who told me (some even in a scolding voice) that I should NOT be crying or upset, because my mothers suffering was over, and oh yes, the classic line -"She's in a much better place, and she's not hurting anymore!" WELL?!!! I'M hurting!

Alan, that is horrible! (what that woman said) Vearing off track a bit from my blog question, on the subject of death and grieving- Christians say some of the most rude and unfeeling things to people who have just lost someone to death. NO ONE can tell you how to grieve, it is a very private thing, and different with each person.

Glad to see there are other happily married people still out there. And Bruce, I'm glad you clarified that last part, heehee! :)

Lie About Santa Claus Acceptable

So many times, Christians either go waaaaay over here to the left, or waaaaay over here to the right in their beliefs, either going off on tangents about stuff that is harmless, or living like anything and everything goes. I'm not talking about gray areas or middle, passive ground- at ALL. But I believe God expects us to use balance, and wisdom - Ann, your 18 yr old son has shown a whole lot of both of these. I believe he will be a great dad one day!

Lie About Santa Claus Acceptable

part 3: I think one of the most touching things I ever saw was the picture of Santa kneeling at the manger. Saint Nicholas was an example of Christian love and giving that we would all do good to follow. I don't see a problem one with teaching our children to give to others

Lie About Santa Claus Acceptable

part 2: No mother goose, no Disney, no children's stories or fantasy at all- do you allow them to USE their imagination at ALL?! Do you run screaming at them if you catch them talking to their barbies or pretending their matchbox police car is chasing a matchbox speeder??? C'mon people- children believe in things that aren't real, then they grow out of it- that's being a kid! Teach them the truth about Jesus, but let them be a kid.

Lie About Santa Claus Acceptable

Awesome answer Brad. I think telling a small child that there is no Santa Clause is just as cruel as telling them their puppy isn't going to heaven! Yes, MOST of Santa Clause is just made up folk-lore, (some of him is NOT) but do all of you people mean to tell me that you don't allow your children to believe in ANY kind of made up story?

Who Do I Tithe To

then God will judge HIMSELF because it is HE who COMMANDS it. If a person can't feed their kids on 90% of their salary, they're not going to be able to off 100% either. There could have been numerous other explanations to his financial problems, and I'm sure had you looked closer at the situation, you would have found that obedience to God was not one of them
