Committing Suicide A Selfish Act

Alan, I did later see your quote on the other suicide blog after I had already posted what I did on this one. Apology accepted.

Rebecca, I hope your mother-in-law doesn't suffer from the same side affect I did on Paxil : suicidal thoughts. Everyone's system is different in reacting to any kind of medication. Hope she is doing well.

So Alan of UK is now quent the scot? In the first place, you should have posted your new comments in addition to those on 10/30/06 when you wrote them. Just so you know, I HAVE suffered from suicidal thoughts, and depression so I have been there. I never carried it out because of the trauma it would cause family.

Part 3: As for those Christians who look down on those of us who take meds for a certain mental illness, all I can say is I believe God has given wisdom to doctors in this day and age who can create medication that can help in certain chemical imbalances. Thank God we live in 21st century where science has improved to do this.

Alan, have you ever asked your family & friends if they'd be so happy that you wanted to kill yourself imagining that they'd be better off without you? Would they be so thrilled that they'd never get to see you again on this earth?

All this talk about medication, being in right mind on it and not in right mind off it brings up something. I've been diagnosed as bi-polar and was on Paxil for 9 years along w/other meds. I struggled with suicidal throughts and got weaned off Paxil earlier this year. If you read the side effects for Paxil, it says MAY INCREASE SUICIDAL THOUGHTS. My suggestion is to stay away from Paxil because it can cause a person to not be in their right mind.

Part 2: Since I've been off Paxil, I no longer have these thoughts of ending my life. I still take certain meds and see my bi-polar condition as no different from a diabetic. For some reason my body stopped producing serotonin, a chemical in our brain we are born with, that induces sleep a long time ago. My meds, taken before bedtime, works like a charm in getting rest.
