Does DNA Prove Creationism

David:

Genesis mentions no orgigin for men besides Adam and eve. If the rest (e.g. other wives) didn't come from incest, they must have another origin untainted by the Fall.

While Genesis doesn't get into this, later books do (e.g. Romans 5). If sin affected mankind via Adam, that would not apply to people who weren't descended from Adam, would it? Yet it applies to ALL mankind.

Incest was a sin by the law of Moses, but not before. Genesis 12, 20, 26 mention 3 places patriarchs called their wives sisters. Either Abraham and Isaac were liars, or close relations were customary at that time. Polygamy was also common then, but not now. Laws and customs change.

74 million are with Trump, but 81 million are with Biden. The 81 million are in the majority, so they get to set the agenda for the country for the next four years. That's how democratic societies work. It's only totalitarian states that allow minorities to rule.

The U.S. is not a direct democracy. The president is chosen by electors, rather than the popular vote. In 2016, Trump lost the popular vote, but won the electoral vote in a landslide (306 out of the required 270 votes). However, in 2020, Biden won both the popular vote, AND the electoral vote by the same landslide Trump won by in 2016.

(Jesus also set the Golden Rule. Don't rebuke others unless you're willing to accept rebuke from others as well.)

Did David Go To Heaven

Charles_Allan_Soffer:

Yes. Unfortuately, Mormons have their own theology of the afterlife that is totally different from how Christians and the Bible view it.

Also, you won't find many of the people who were active on this blog still here. This particular blog was started in 2015, and since then, there have only been one comment in each of 2016 and 2017, and nothing more until four years later!

Baptism Gone Wrong

Thermon:

Unfortunately, many Christians think they are more moral than God, more righteous than God, and in a better place to judge than God is, based on how outraged they get over what God said and did (e.g. wanting to avoid the Song of Songs because it's too explicit).

Why cite OT instead of Jesus?

Matthew 5:43-44:
Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.
But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you,

Luke 6:27-29:
But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other, and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.

If you love neighbors and enemies, who is left to hate?

Does DNA Prove Creationism

David:

The Bible said man was made from clay. It doesn't go into details about the exact steps God used to do so. Genesis is big on substance, not details. It leaves many questions unanswered. Presumably God didn't think it was important for us to know. E.g. since all creatures had a mate, why was Mrs. Serpent (and all her descendants) punished for the sins of her husband?

DNA provides strong evidence for evolution. Evolution says absolutely nothing (for or against) whether God guided it along, or God set it in motion initially and because of its robust design, it was able to do the rest of the work itself, or whether it happened totally by itself and by accident. Such questions are in the realm of theology, not biology.

How Can We Sin

Trav:

How can you rely on "numerous witnesses in scriptures", if you don't even think "Bibles are authentic"? How do you know who prophets are, and who apostles are, and who Christ is - if not from the very Bibles that you seem to not trust? That makes no sense at all.

JESUS HIMSELF gave Peter the authority, so that anything that he decreed on earth, it would also be done in heaven. If Peter called someone an apostle, then by the authority Jesus himself gave Peter, that person was an apostle.

How Can We Sin

Trav:

Matthew 16:19 (also 18:18)
And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

Jesus gave his authority to Peter. Otherwise, all authority ended when the Apostles died, so which teachers do YOU follow? How do you know the Bible you hold is authentic, if you don't respect the authority of 1900+ years of people passing it down to you?

Again, NOWHERE does it say Paul replaced Judas.

How Can We Sin

Trav:

Nowhere does it say Jesus chose Paul as to REPLACE Judas. Paul was sent to the gentiles, AFTER Christ's death, unlike the others.

Jesus selected 12. 11 (under authority Christ gave them) chose a replacement, and asked God to guide their choice. If you don't believe they had authority to entrust such a replacement, you can't believe any of their successors over the next 1900+ years could be trusted either, so why do you trust the Bible that came down through their hands?

If you trust no other teacher other than Christ, do you rip out every book in the New Testament other than the Gospels? Do you listen to teachers, or only read scriptures and interpreter them as you see fit?

How Can We Sin

Trav:

You wrote: As we discussed earlier.... minus judas- 11 Apostles.... void filled by Paul?

That's not what scripture says. Perhaps you missed Acts 1:15-26, where the remaining Apostles cast lots to pick Judas' replacement.

23 And they appointed two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
26 And they gave forth their lots, and the lot fell upon Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

How Can We Sin

David:

Note that Paul said the Gospel of Christ is the Power of God unto Salvation - NOT the Power of God unto Perfection.

"Antifa" is literally a contraction of "anti-fascism". WW2 was fought to defeat fascism in Germany and Italy.

You're right about "The heart of fools proclaimeth foolishness".

Every Republican administration in the past half century has created a recession, while every Democratic administration has pulled us out of the last one Republicans created, yet conservatives still vote Republican "for the economy".

Conservatives vote for a candidate that breaks every biblical commandment and boasts about it - "for morality and Christian values".

Many Christian "prophets" still insist he won the election, despite that obviously being not true.

How Can We Sin

David:

Once again: If you believe that one who is born of God cannot and does not ever sin, how many people do YOU PERSONALLY know that are alive today that this applies to? And if not personally, how many do you know by reputation?

Was 2020 Election Stolen

Yes. These people who call themselves prophets want all the power and prestige that the title "prophet" carries, without any of the responsibility that goes along with it. (I.e. in Old Testament times, even one single wrong prediction got you stoned to death). I doubt that any of them would keep boasting of such predictions, if we still held them to those same standards.

How Can We Sin

David:

Then please explain 1 John 1. Especially the part that says that if we say that we don't sin, the truth is not in us?

How Can We Sin

David:

1 John 3:9: No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God's seed remains in them, they cannot go on sinning because they have been born of God.

Note that it doesn't say they can't sin. It says they can't "go on sinning" (i.e. "habitually sin"). No Christian is perfect and sinless. Only Jesus rises to that level of perfection.

kathr4453:

It's sad many Christians put their faith in a man who obviously displays many anti-Christian traits, but worse is Christian leaders (who out to know better, as they're expected to know their Bibles) did so. Worst is many self-proclaimed Christian "prophets" that predicted he would win re-election in a landslide and would be inaugurated on Jan. 20 - and when he wasn't, instead of admitting they were wrong, STILL insist he's "actually" the president - clearly delusional.

The Old Testament clearly says one should NOT listen to prophets who make predictions that aren't true. They are to be taken outside the city and stoned to death. Fortunately for them, we don't do that anymore.

How Can We Sin

David:

Do you know ANY Christians who have never once sinned after they got saved?

1 John 1:8-10
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.

The Letters of John were written to the Church - i.e. already saved Christians. It isn't that Christians never sin, or that they can never sin. Rather, they should never CHOOSE to do so. Sinning is an accident, not a deliberate course of action.

Trav:

What I was asking was why do Christians get upset about things Jesus never even mentioned, while at the same time ignoring things he actually DID talk about? This is hypocrisy - it is putting one's own prejudices above the Word of God. But sure. Deflect and make it about me.

We hear stories about bakers refusing to bake cakes for same-sex marriages, but never about them refusing to bake cakes for re-married divorcees (that Jesus condemned), or Hindus or other religions (idolatry is condemned repeatedly in both testaments). Why is that? Can you explain it?

What do you mean "I don't even know ten commandments without looking"? Explain.

Date A Blind Woman

Trav:

Are you somehow implying that kathr is blind, because she disagrees with you? Are you even capable of making a comment without deliberately putting somebody else down? (How "Christian"!)

Do you apply the same "I suffer not a woman to teach" yardstick to Sarah Palin, Michelle Bachmann, Amy Coney Barrett, Paula Jones, Joyce Meyer, etc., or only to women you don't like?
