Is My Friend Really Married

I keep reading that God wants us to obey the laws of man and have a legal marriage ceremony. Well, abortion is legal in man's law, but is a sin in God's law. Divorce is legal according to the law of man, but to the law of God is a sin. There are many things which are legal in the laws of man, but are sins in the laws of God. The Bible even talks about the differences between man's law and God's law. I don't think it is right to pick which laws of man God wants us to follow and which laws of God, He wants us to follow. That would be like picking which Scriptures we want to believe and which ones we don't. So my point is that in the Old Testament men took many wives (or one wife) in marriage without a ceremony and it was righteous in God's eyes.
