King David In The Bible
Who killed Goliath? David.

1 Samuel 17:40 "And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd's bag which he had. . . . . . "

Why five stones? Goliath had four sons, and although David was prepared for them, Goliath's sons did not come out that day. Goliath's sons were killed in later battles by the servants of David.

The text states that Goliath died of the stone, not the sword (1 Samuel 17:50). When the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they ran from the field, and the Israelite army pursued them out of Judah.

1 Samuel 17:49, 50
So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and a stone, and struck the Philistine and KILLED HIM. But there was NO SWORD IN THE HAND of David.

The NIV clearly says in 2 Samuel 21:19 that David did not kill Goliath. Now even the unbelieving world knows that David slew Goliath. Little children know that David slew Goliath. The NIV translators don't know that David slew Goliath. People tell me, "The NIV is more accurate". They actually believe this hogwash. Let's look at some facts. 2 Samuel 21:19:

The NIV>"...Elhanan son of Jaare-Oregim the Bethlehemite killed Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver's rod."

"...Elhanan the son of Jaare-oregim, a Bethlehemite, slew the brother of Goliath the Gittite, the staff of whose spear was like a weaver's beam.
