Last King Of Israel

Jesus received his humanity from Mary but his right to the royal line from Joseph. The genealogy in Luke 3:31 (which is Marys line) shows descent through David's son Nathan whereas royal dependancy passed down through David's son Solomon. The genealogy in Matthew 1 traces Josephs line. The curse recorded in Jer 22:28 over King Jeconiah says he shall be recorded as childless. Claim to the throne would normally pass on to natural children but as the decree from God states that "none will sit on the throne of David" held true. Jesus was not the natural descendant of Joseph but through his earthly father inherited the right to the throne where no other natural descendant could because of this curse.
