Are You Saved And Why
#2 Its similar to adoption. We are not born into the family of God, we need to be adopted. Typically the adoptee does not decide to join the family, but purely out of love and grace, the family initiates the adoption. Later the person can reject this adoption and leave the family if he so chooses. This is similar to how God initiates a relationship with man. He comes to us.

Does God Unadopt Us
"He very much would like for you to adopt Him."

What? That's not how adoption works. What child marches down the street, comes up to a man and says, "Hey! You're adopting me! Now I'm part of your family and entitled to my inheritance." It's the other way around. God adopts us. John 15:16, 19 Mark 13:20 Matt.22:14

Was Apostle Paul Born Again
**Paul was born again when he was baptized**

Indeed this is so.

Ananias said to him in Acts 22:16 'Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name.'

Ezekiel 36:25"Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean, I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols.

Should I Get Baptized Again
**As for infants being baptised, they have no concept of God, Jesus, believing, nor the environment around them.**

Hmmm...Psalm 22:9-10 Yet You are He who brought me forth from the womb, You made me trust when upon my mother's breasts. Upon You I was cast from birth, You have been my God from my mother's womb.

Luke 1:41 When Elizabeth heard Mary's greeting, the baby leaped in her womb,

Seems as though the Scriptures disagree with you Steven.

Baptized For Remission Of Sins
Jesus saved us 2000 years ago when He was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried, He descended into hell, rose again on the third day, and ascended into heaven. Salvation from sin, death, and the devil was given to me personally on March 8, 1964 at my baptism.

Baptized For Remission Of Sins
catherine wrote:
"No! Baptising cannot do anything about your sins. Baptising cannot forgive you of your sins. You need to plead the Blood of Christ for that, My friend!"
catherine does not agree with St. Peter "Baptism now saves you" or St. Mark "He who has believed and has been baptized shall be saved" or St Paul's testimony "Now why do you delay? Get up and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on His name".

Are We Under The Law
The perfect righteousness of Jesus Christ is, by the grace of God, imputed to the sinner. The righteousness that saves is an alien righteousness received by faith.

No Baptism Then No Heaven
Bruce, I'm not sure if my duplicate post was my fault? Are you saying you *do* believe that preaching the Gospel is a means of grace?

Christmas As A Feast Day
"It's exactly like Luther's definition of justifying faith: the faith that believes itself to be justified."

Would you please provide the reference for Luther's definition of justifying faith? ISTM that in context Luther more often connects justification with forgiveness similar to the writings of St. Ambrose. He understands faith to be much more than mental assent of certain doctrines or facts.

Perhaps I have misunderstood you.

Favorite Christmas Carol
Also, it would seem most inappropriate to sing a dancing song for the Nativity Feast known as ChristMass. Now if we are speaking of singing carols for the season...sure, I'm all for that. my favorite is "The Wassail Song"- version 1

Favorite Christmas Carol
"Many songs sung at this time of year are called Christmas carols, though they are really Christmas HYMNS."

True. Pardon me if Christmas hymns were to be excluded from this thread. Lutheran hymns call us to deeper reflection and devotion. We are not so much concerned with the right atmosphere or mood for worship. Lex orandi, lex credendi-the rule of prayer constitutes the rule of believing. That which the church speaks and sings is indicative of what she confesses to be true.

Favorite Christian Sayings
I have two.

I know of no other God than the One in the arms of the Virgin, on the Cross, and on the Altar.

Learn Christ and Him crucified. Learn to praise Him and, despairing of
yourself, say, 'Lord Jesus, You are my righteousness, just as I am Your sin.
You have taken upon Yourself what is mine and have given to me what I was not.' Beware of aspiring to such purity that you will not wish to be looked upon as a sinner, or to be one. For Christ dwells only in sinners.' Martin Luther

Was The Blood Of Jesus Human
#1 Earnest Angley may be sincere but he is sincerely wrong.

It seams as though his appeal is on two levels. 1-Power seekers. 2-Sincere believers who want to do something meaningful for they fall victim to this type of teaching. They fail to realize that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the power of God unto salvation. The Good News is that God has done in Christ *for us* what we cannot do. If Jesus is not fully God and fully Man, he is not fully our savior.

Was The Blood Of Jesus Human
#2 This is why Christians should spend some time studying and hold to the three Ecumenical Creeds...The Apostle's Creed, The Nicene Creed, and The Athanasian Creed. Not to say that the Creeds alone would keep Christians from falling prey to all heresies, but it would be a step in the right direction. Our fathers have much to teach us. The Creeds speak to many of the heresies still rearing their ugly heads today, such as Gnosticism and Word-Faith.

Divine Blood Controversy
++But after hearing Mr. Angley's message "Why Won't People Use the Blood", I am ever more convinced that this line of theology is unsound. The concept that Adam and Eve had "divine blood" smacks of Mormonism."

Rx: Yup. This reminds me of what Kenneth Copeland teaches.

God's reason for creating Adam was to reproduce Himself. Adam was not subordinate to God. Adam was God manifested in the flesh. When Adam originally sinned he gave his god nature to Satan. K Copeland

Divine Blood Controversy
I'm not familiar with the term, but it sounds dangerously close to the "Word of Faith" heresies taught by Kenneth Copeland and his ilk.

Jesuites Believe In Mary
#2 "If anyone dares to say that Christ was a God-bearing man and not rather God in truth, being by nature one Son, even as 'the Word became flesh', and is made partaker of blood and flesh precisely like us, let him be anathema." St. Cyril of Alexandria

Jesuites Believe In Mary
Jack: "I'm not tolerant to untruths about either the full divinity or full humanity of our Lord, God, and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Lies about Jesus come from the devil."

Someone else was not so tolerant of Nestorianism.

"If anyone does not confess that Emmanuel is God in truth, and therefore that the holy Virgin is the Mother of God (for she bore in a fleshly way the Word of God become flesh, let him be anathema." St. Cyril of Alexandria
