I haven't "aligned myself" with anyone. This isn't a matter of taking sides, or "us vs. them", despite how some people on these blogs seem to think discussions should work. This isn't a Battle Royale where the person who shouts the loudest wins the prize (which is having their ego elevated to a platform higher than everyone else's). It is (or should be) about finding the truth, wherever that happens to lead us, whether conforms with our own comfortable preconceptions or not.

I say what I happen to believe is true. If that sounds like what someone else says, it's because we happen to agree on that particular point (and *possibly* others). It doesn't in any way imply that we agree on everything.

Samuelbb7:

Even though I may disagree with you on some theological points, I don't recall ever hearing you blasting people on here with hate, malice, personal attacks, and unsubstantiated accusations, as some here frequently do. Jesus said that you can tell a tree by its fruits, and the fruits of all of us who post here speak well for themselves.

In the Matthew 25 parable of the Sheep and the Goats, Jesus separates the righteous from the wicked based on the love they show - not theological correctness, nor being a member of the right church.

Just because someone in the Bible quoted from a book, that doesn't necessarily mean that the quoted book is necessarily worth also including in the Bible. Jude 1:14 is an almost verbatim quote from 1 Enoch 1:8, a book that is considered pseudepigraphia (i.e. written by someone else than it claims to be). Paul even quoted several pagan Greek poets.

So what? We're talking about the Church of Christ, not the Church of Paul. Paul was not the only Apostle. The others were doing their own ministry during that entire time.

Just because someone happened to write something down at some given point doesn't mean that thing only started to be true at that point. It may just have been the first time it was noted (or more precisely, the first time WE know about it. We don't know everything all the Apostles said and did during their whole lives.)

The Americas were here before Columbus "discovered" them. Gravity existed before Newton discovered it - people weren't just flying around and suddenly crashed to the ground when Newton set pen to paper.

Trav:

Yes, Israel is found from Genesis to Revelation (singular, no S at the end). But it's NOT the only subject of those books.

You keep ignoring scriptures like John 10:16:
And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice, and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

These sheep are NOT part of Israel, but Jesus will gather them, and join them to Israel.

And Matthew 22, the parable of the Wedding Feast. When those who were bidden did not come, the king got his servants to invite other guests.

Trav:

Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin, and so death passed upon ALL MEN, for that ALL have sinned

Any men not descended from Adam would NOT have inherited the curse of his sin - yet the above verse says ALL men - so there could NOT have been any men other than Adam. Your theory is patently false.

Yet again, you totally twist scripture in a way that is different from how Christians throughout the world have understood it for two thousand years, just to prove your own bizarre theological viewpoint, but of course, Trav knows everything better than every other Christian in the world, right?

You blame us for ignoring the scriptures you show us from the Bible - yet you ignore the scriptures WE show you from the same Bible.

What Is The Gospel

David:

When, exactly, does this take place? What scripture says it's instantaneous?

If true, Paul would not avoid meat sacrificed to idols "in case it might cause those with weak faith to stumble" because that could never happen. John would not need to write to a church full of already saved believers that if we sin, we need to confess our sin and he will cleanse us of our unrighteousness (because such sin would never happen).

Also, nowhere does the Bible say we are saved by correct doctrine. Nowhere is salvation contingent on proper theology. That you think that incorrect theology proves someone is unsaved means you don't understand salvation. (It doesn't mean you're not saved, however).

17 govt. agencies said Russia hacked 2016 election. Trump was not directly complicit, but knew it was going on, and did nothing to stop it.

2nd impeachment had 232197 and 55-45 House+Senate majorities. NOT "exoneration". It only failed because impeachment requires 2/3 majority.

Asking Ukr. president to target Hunter (that US President has no jurisdictin in) to hurt Biden's election chances was using power of his office to interfere with an election - which IS impeachable.

They are held for trial - like EVERY other trial in this country. Due process where actual evidence is presented.

If you think America was better after Trump than before, YOU should apply your own words to yourself.

You wrote: We merit salvation by cooperating with God's grace to do the works he prepared for us! Mt 25:45...

Merit means we earn it - so it's not a gift.

I frequently refer to Matthew 25.

Still waiting for the scripture verse that tells me we are saved by Faith alone.

I literally quoted Ephesians: 2:8-9:
For by grace are ye saved through faith, and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Not of works, lest any man should boast.

Matthew 7:17-23 talks about those who boast.

Are SDA Christians

SDA believe mostly what most Christians do, with a few exceptions: Sabbath should be observed on Saturday, soul sleep, and "investigative judgment" - i.e. Jesus "returned" in 1844 to the "Heavenly Sanctuary" and has been reading The Books to see who is worthy of resurrection.

Nothing in the NT says the Sabbath moved. The church gathered on Sunday, but this is nowhere called Sabbath. Both Luther and Calvin mentioned soul sleep.

Millerites predicted Jesus would return in 1844, but when he didn't, they needed to rationalize why. SDA and JW have their own theories.

A few minor unorthodox doctrines don't make one non-Christian, especially as they don't hinge on fundamentals.

Totalitarians like Hitler and Stalin love DARVO: Deny, Attack, and Reverse Victim and Offender. They tell people to hate the media, because because a free press is their major threat. Trump does the same - because their reporting the truth hurts him. He is the enemy of truth.

Right-wing media is fake news. By Biblical standard of "2-3 witnesses", they keep losing. Alex Jones said Sandy Hook never happened, and called dead kids' parents actors. They sued, he lost every suit. Fox avoided a defamation suit by ADMITTING nobody in their right minds takes Tucker Carlson seriously. Dominion has multiple billion-dollar lawsuits against Fox, NewsMax, OANN, Giuliani, Lindell, Powell, etc. You lie, you pay.

Trav:

I don't need to talk about Israel, because you already do, and space is limited.

No. The context of the "entire book" is NOT "Israel's relationship with God". That is a big part of it, yes, but a lot of it happened before Israel even existed, and the whole message of the New Testament is that Jesus came to the "lost sheep of the house of Israel" - but most of them rejected him, so after his death, his message is now open to everyone. Did you forget the parable of the Wedding Feast? All who were invited made excuses, so the bridegroom told his servants to go and find new guests.

Israel WILL come back eventually - but that time is not yet.

What Is The Gospel

David:

You wrote: I can tell from your words you have not been saved.

Which words are those, exactly? Please be specific.

Mark 16:16: "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved" - check.
Romans 10:9: "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved." - check.

Jesus said "Judge not, lest ye be judge", yet you are here, judging my salvation. Does that mean YOU aren't saved, because you're disobeying Jesus in at least this regard?

but in my experience it took approximately 6 months

So you agree that salvation is not instantaneous.

Ruben:

Yes, the next verse says we are prepared for good works - but it doesn't say we are SAVED by those good works. Yes. God will render to each according to his works. Elsewhere he says that our works are tested by fire, and those without good works will have their works burned up in the first - *even though they themselves are saved*. Salvation (a GIFT of God), and rewards for good works (which are earned) are two separate things.

What Is The Gospel

David:

Romans 7:14-17
14: I *am* carnal
15: I *do* which I allow not, i *do not, I hate that *do* I.
16: I *do*
17: I *do it*, sin that *dwelleth* in me.
These are all PRESENT TENSE, not past tense. Paul is not writing about the past, but the present.

Also, you presume a lot by telling me to do something that I already did 46 years ago.

jerry6593:

If that were really true, where is the evidence? It's been over a year, and still nothing other than Republicans here and there caught cheating. Why are you and so many Republicans convinced Trump won? What evidence do you base YOUR strong belief on? (And no, "Trump deserved to win, so he must have" is not evidence.)

If there is such strong evidence that makes you believe so strongly, why has nobody presented it yet? Mike Lindell, the MyPillow guy claimed for months that there was so much evidence that would convince everyone, he would present at his August Symposium - a huge nothing burger.

You will know a tree by its fruit, and your "Trump Won" tree hasn't produced a single piece of fruit.
