Is Mary A Co-Redemptress
miche3754: "Gen. 3:15
And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers, he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."
This, mic.
Where does it say Mary was absolved from sin?"

Right there! Jesus has always been at enmity with Satan and always will be, therefore Mary, from the point of her conception, was always at enmity with Satan and always will be. Israel? Rev.3:9 (amongst others) falsifies that intepretation. God put Mary together with Jesus in the Garden of Eden in this prophecy, just like He created Adam and Eve together in the Garden - sinless.

StrongAxe: "For one, "Catholic" is never used to describe believers (but "Christian" is)."

Don't be so sure...

St. Victorinus (c.270AD): "In the whole world Paul taught that all the churches are arranged by sevens, that they are called seven, and that the Catholic Church is one... he wrote to the Romans, to the Corinthians... Therefore in these seven churches, of one Catholic Church are believers" (Commentary on the Apocalypse 1:16)

"Then the CHURCH THROUGHOUT Judea, Galilee and Samaria enjoyed a time of peace." (Acts 9:31)

"Church throughout" = ekklesia KATA HOLOS

Dear Luke (Paul's disciple), nice wordplay! (thanks guanophore - good timing!)

Is Purgatory Paradise
miche3754: "We pay for our sin in this life not the after life."

Miche, you haven't proved that because you can't - the Bible doesn't say that. Is divine justice achieved in this world? No. But it will be in the next world:

"anyone who speaks against the Holy Spirit will not be forgiven, either in this age or in the age to come." (Matthew 12:32)

There is no "forgiveness" in Heaven or Hell, so there must be a third (temporary) state. Read 1 Corinthians 3:10-15 and you will see that your "works" - good and bad - will be "tested", and "revealed" on "the day" - Judgment Day - after you have passed "as through fire".

StrongAxe: "It was a preference, NOT a requirement. However the RCC has turned it into a requirement."

No, Paul was speaking to everybody - "brothers" - it's only a requirement for those who want to be priests and nuns. But here is what Paul said to Timothy, and by extension the rest of the clergy:

"You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus... Endure hardship with us like a good soldier of Christ Jesus. No one serving as a soldier gets involved in CIVILIAN AFFAIRS - he wants to please his commanding officer." (2 Timothy 2:1-4)

God made His will clear, and He gave His Church full authority to implement His will when required.

MarkV.: "you can see that the ability to see Jesus comes from God."

Of course.

"Your catechisms destroys this Truth. In your religion, RCC, you work to gain sight and faith."

You'll have to be more specific, but keep in mind:

"God opposes the proud but gives GRACE to the humble." (James 4:6)

Is being humble a "work"? It's difficult work!

Is Purgatory Paradise
miche3754: "Christ covers all sin."

Miche, this is the basic error Protestants make: Yes, Christ's blood covers *forgiveness* for all our sins, but it doesn't cover the *punishment* He judges is due to our sins:

"ANYONE who does wrong will be repaid for his wrong, and there is no favoritism." (Colossians 3:25)

You "repay" our Lord with suffering or good works - if you don't like suffering:

"Above all, love each other deeply, because love COVERS OVER a multitude of sins." (1 Peter 4:8, cf. James 5:20)

How can we "cover over" what Christ has already covered over? We can't.

And nowhere does the Bible say we go straight to Heaven - why do you think that is?

Rhonda: "Constantine and pagan philosophers established identity of rcc"

Catholic Church: Constantine was a "hero" for Christianity

Orthodox churches: "St. Constantine"

RCC plot? Believe what you want.

What is wrong with you people? Is it mob rule here too? Say a prayer to the Holy Spirit before you write.

Mike356, Nicole accurately pointed out that Aaron and Miriam were grumbling against Moses - God's chosen leader. Just like you guys grumble against Christ's chosen leader - Peter. And just like Moses was succeeded by Joshua and all the way down to Christ, Peter has been succeeded all the way down to Pope Benedict XVI.

"The teachers of the law and the Pharisees sit in Moses' seat. So YOU MUST OBEY THEM and do everything they tell you." (Matthew 23:2-3)

"Obey your leaders and submit to their authority." (Hebrews 13:17)

Don't grumble, just do it.

mima: "Helpful hint, when I was a boy they only eat fish on Friday."

The Didache (c.90AD): "But let not your fasts be with the hypocrites (Matthew 6:16), for they fast on the second and fifth day of the week, but do ye fast on the fourth day and the Preparation (FRIDAY)." (ch.8)

Mima, here's a helpful hint: that prophecy was for the end times! Here's another one: there ARE people who want to ban meat-eating - they're not Catholic!

StrongAxe, when the NT was written Jesus and His apostles had to choose married men, even still:

"Peter said to him, "We have left ALL we had to follow you!"

"I tell you the truth," Jesus said to them, "no one who has left home or WIFE or brothers or parents or children FOR THE SAKE OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD will fail to receive many times as much in this age and, in the age to come, eternal life." (Luke 18:28-30)

"What I mean, brothers, is that the time is short. From now on those who have wives should live as if they had none... I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord's affairs - how he can please the Lord." (1 Corinthians 7:29-32)

Lee1538: "Hopefully one day the Lord will open your eyes so you can turn to Christ for salvation and that before the day of judgment."

The Holy Writ tells us how the Lord opens our eyes:

"When he was at the table with them, he took bread, gave thanks, broke it and began to give it to them. Then their eyes were opened and they recognized him" (Luke 24:30-31)

"Yet there are some of you who do not believe." For Jesus had known from the beginning which of them did not believe and who would betray him." (John 6:64)

frances008: "Normal Catholics don't have a clue what is happening."

You misunderestimate us! Frances, you're not properly discerning (Lk.24:31) between the Church and those who want to destroy Her, or co-opt Her, in their plans for a one-world, secular Utopia. Trust Jesus! He who knows the end from the beginning: "The Gates of Hell will not prevail." You're looking in the wrong direction, although you've got one major piece correct, so here's a pearl for you Ex.31:2-6 (Hippolytus: The Ac,14,29).

P.S. You had me at: "The Catholic Church is the best at everything"!

Should Priests Be Able To Marry
StrongAxe: "The question is whether they should be FORCED to be celibate, without being able to choose marriage at the same time as their vocation."

Hey StrongAxe, the point has already been made here but I guess it bears repeating: nobody is "forced" to be celibate - nobody is forced to be a priest or nun. They choose this vocation of their own free will, fully informed, over years, of all that will be required of them - including celibacy. They choose to answer the highest calling from God, and God's grace is sufficient for them to fulfill His calling. And if people want to be married and serve God too there is no shortage of ways they can do that.

Should Priests Be Able To Marry
miche3754: "If you take a vow, do it in silence and only to God."

Does the Word of God say that?

St. Paul: "I wish that ALL MEN were AS I AM... Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: It is good for them to stay unmarried, AS I AM." (1 Corinthians 7:7-8)

St. Paul: "Therefore I urge you to IMITATE ME." (1 Corinthians 4:16)

Please let our priests and nuns do what God has called them to do. In fact, thank them! Praise God that He has such servants that are willing to sacrifice some of the best things this life has to offer in order to serve Him and His people.

Miche, Key is found in several places in the Bible. Here's the other important one (compare to Matt.16:17-19):

"In that day I will summon my servant, Eliakim son of Hilkiah. I will clothe him with your robe and fasten your sash around him and hand your authority over to him. He will be a father to those who live in Jerusalem and to the house of Judah. I will place on his shoulder the key to the house of David, what he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open. I will drive him like a peg into a firm place, he will be a seat of honor for the house of his father. All the glory of his family will hang on him: its offspring and offshoots - all its lesser vessels, from the bowls to all the jars." (Isaiah 22:20-24)

Catholics Allowed To Read Bible
Miche, there are many churches around the world, but only one Church - "MY Church" (Matt.16:18). Paul wrote his letters to 7 churches. In Revelation, John wrote to 7 churches. 7 is symbolic for complete. These 7 churches represent the whole, one universal ("Catholic") Church, united in "one faith" (Eph.4:5). There is "one flock and one shepherd" (John 10:16), and Christ appointed His shepherd on earth - Peter: "Tend my sheep" (John 21:16). Why? Because He was ascending to the Father! Did you know that the "gospel is veiled" (2 Cor.4:3)? Trust Jesus, the Word of God: "THE Church" is "THE pillar and foundation of the truth" (1 Tim.3:15). Blessings.

Lee, my parents are alive, just so you know. But to your point, yes, all suffering and all good works, including alms giving (search KJV, etc.), offered up in the name of Jesus Christ (at anytime in your life), do reduce "time" and suffering in Purgatory - "prison".

"For Christ died for sins once for all... but made alive by the Spirit, through whom also he went and preached to the spirits in prison who disobeyed long ago when God waited patiently in the days of Noah" (1 Peter 3:18-20)

"I tell you the truth, you will not get out until you have paid the last penny." (Matthew 5:26)

"I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me." (Matthew 25:43)

Catholics Allowed To Read Bible
Lee1538: "The Roman Church had virtually nothing to do with that movement"

The Catholic Church was integral to the Solidarity movement - ask them!

"Communism was a system that clearly would not work and eventually destroyed itself."

Yes, "eventually" it would have. But then again, they might have taken the world with them...

"If those days had not been cut short, NO ONE WOULD SURVIVE, but for the sake of the elect those days will be shortened." (Matthew 24:22)

And yes, Miche, this was or will be the work of God, but God uses man in His plan.
