Jesus Born On December 25th

When Messiah was born, scripturally part 1 of 2

Zacharias of the course of Abia ( Luke 1:5)

the eighth to Abijah (1 Chron 24:1-10)

There were 24 courses total. Each course was served for weeks out of year and then at Yom Kippur all courses served at the same time.

Abijah was the 8th course, which means the Angel appeared to Zachariah at 9 weeks after the 1st Sabbath in the month of Aviv/Nisan which is the month of the Passover

This means it was around the festival of Weeks (Pentacost) when the angel appeared to Him.

Paul, you are right, the even is of GREAT significance! I don't put more weight on his birth than his deatha nd resurrection...but you are right.

My problem with December 25th is what it reprersented before. It was a pagan holiday and when those pagans converted they brought with them their holy days they did not want to part with. So their holy days were fused into Christianity. We are told not to combine pagan worship with true worship.

So while the event is important...so is being true to God's desire not to mix pagan and true worship.

Peace.

Is The Trinity Concept Made Up

They are 3 parts of 1 very big God.

>>I think there is one part to God...Spirit. And that one very BIG Spirit has the ability to manifest himself as he sees fit, whenever he sees fit, however he sees fit!

When we say God is three, we limit God to less than he is capable of. The Father IS THE SPIRIT, your 3rd person anyway. There is ONLY one Spirit, not two. And since that ONE Spirit took human form...the Spirit in the flesh...you are back down to ONE God doing whatever pleases him for whatever purpose he sees fit.

Peace.

Phil>> The exact date of the berth of Christ is a relatively insignificant issue. The important thing is that he was born and was the perfect sacrifice for all God's elect.

>>While I agree the date isn't important, scripture can and indeed does show it as being in Sept. If you are interested, I can dig it out. It involved what Elizabeth's husband was doing in the Temple, how far along she was, the difference in due dates between her and Mary. It's actually pretty simple math.

Anyone who wants to honor the birth of Messiah I do not judge. It isn't something commanded in scripture, and the date in use today does indeed have pagan roots.
