actually with focus on my mother country(Uganda), there are few catholics who read the bible. they look at it as a book read for the born again Christians and what is amusing is that, when they see one reading a bible they begin saying that she or he has changed religion to a born again Christian. it has been only of recent that the charismatic renewal group has come up in the catholic church that catholics have adopted reading bible. but in the past, catholics depended on the books that were printed from Rome illustrating orders of the mass when and how they were to be recited.
