Roman Catholic Abuses
Any wonder from a religion that worships the church rather than the risen Lord? Matthew 7:21-25 is appropriate. Brooks |
For Many Are Called
There are two types of calling in the bible. A general call to all the world to repent and accept Christ and the effectual calling that is only to the elect of God. Brooks |
Can I Marry A Non-Believer
II Cor. 6:14 is pretty explicit. You not only can't marry a non-believer but can't date one either. For that matter you can't work for one or be business partners with one. How much explaining does one need to know we have no right to be yoked in any form with non-believers? Brooks |
More Taxes For The Rich
Frances008---sorry you think I have my head in the clouds. Show me one place in the NT that God (He did write it ya know) instructed us to change the government, vote, be active in procuring our freedom and I will acquiesce. I will relent and agree that we should all worry about who is elected and how awful our taxes are and forget about the kingdom of God. Otherwise if you dont mind I will continue to change the world with the gospel----as my Lord did. Brooks |
Who Is The One True Church
I have the RCC catechism and it is filled with references to the Bible.
You are wrong in that the Roman church does not recognize the Bible as authoritative.
They simply recogize the Bible but at the same time, believe their church is the final authority in interpretation often citing 'sacred tradition' and the Magisterium as other authorities. ---Lee1538 on 8/29/08
Many books make reference to the bible but that does not make them authoritative. The problem with the catechism is it states flatly that we could not have salvation without Mary. Christians believe that Holy Spirit of God is the final authority in interpretation of the bible. Not someone elected by men. Brooks |
Can I Get An Annulment
Substance abuse is not a ground for divorce in the NT. Annulment is nowhere found in the bible so you really have your answer. No annulment as that is a pagan practice. No divorces as you have no biblical grounds. Brooks |
How To Vote In 2008
We need to find in the scripture where we are to be concerned with terrorist, the economy, world peace, high taxes or any of the myriad of political problems facing the world. We are first to seek the glory of God and His righteousness is to become ours. I can find nowhere in the NT that we are instructed to vote (I have since I was eligible---Viet Nam) to be concerned with terrorist or even worry about tomorrow. If fact I find just the opposite. Now if one is reliant on himself as most Christians are today then the world is most important and we must be secure from the evil that lurks without. Not so says Jesus. Seek the kingdom of God and all things will be given you. Brooks |
Do Women Dress Appropriately
I have often wondered why Christian women want to show to men other than their husbands parts of their bodies that should be reserved for spouses only. It amazes me even more that a Godly husband would allow their wives to parade before other men that which God has made specifically for the husbands enjoinment. Does this answer the original question? Brooks |
Is Islam The AntiChrist's Religion
All religions that are not of Jesus Christ are against Him. He said something to the effect that your are either for Him or against Him. Jesus was not inclusive so why should we? Brooks |
Should Jews Become Christians
Jesus said, "I am the truth and the light and no man comes to the Father but by me." Either Jesus was wrong or yes, Jews need Jesus to be saved. Brooks |
What Can I Do To My Husband
Hmmm, did he commit adultery? If he did not then you are the one that needs to repent. The only allowable way for you to divorce him is in the case of adultery and that is not mandatory. Are you able to witness to him being separated? Is he the thorn in your side that came from God as Paul had? We must be very careful in using our hurt to direct our actions in divorce. Brooks |
10 Commandments In Force
Mark, I believe you are mistaken. If all in the OT were under the covenant of works then none would be saved as no one can completely obey the laws of God. Abraham was considered righteous because he believed the promises of God, not because he obeyed the laws of God to the letter. If you broke one you broke them all. The OT covenant and the NT covenant are exactly the same. Believing God is the way to heaven both for the Jews of old and the Christians. We in the NT times must believe the promise of God of His Son being our Savior. Brooks |
Who Is The One True Church
There is one issue here and only one. Is the bible the word of God or is it not. If it is then the RCC is not even a member or the church described in the bible. If on the other hand the bible is not really the word of God then the true church of God is whatever one wants it to be. Go read the official catechism of the RCC and you will quickly see that it has very little to do with the bible. One cant have his cake and eat it to, you either believe the bible or the RCC. What Are Private Tongues
This is a good topic. I suggest one go to the Greek and see what the difference is between tongues and tongue because the plural and singular in Pauls letter to the Corinthians makes a distinct difference. One is defined gibberish and the other is defined speaking in a language other than your own. If one does not understand the difference then one will be led down all sort of heretical paths. Brooks |
Saved Without Any Fruits
Every one of us judges each day. Don't think so? How many of you witness to your pastor about his need for salvation? Why not? Because you have judged him saved and not in need of salvific witnessing. How do we know who to witness to if we have not judged from their fruits that need Christ?
God is going to judge why you did good deeds not that you did them. Humans judge the deed but can't know the motive. Motive are all God is concerned with as from our heart comes good and bad. Right deeds with wrong motives are condemning and that is what James was speaking about. Brooks |
